That's why I refer to a certain type of neurotypical as "NPCs" - because as somebody with more ethical principles than them, I'm obviously the protagonist of this story, and they're just selfish min-max algorithms trying to acquire as much loot as they can. I used to browse /r/autism, for I am neurodivergent, and there used to be some genuinely helpful and introspective stuff there. People explaining how they deal with and overcome certain aspects of the condition, or their journeys from discovering it to being a full fledged, self sustaining person. It was just overall nice stuff. After a while though, I started having a feeling that things are taking a turn for the worse, with top post more and more frequently being relatable spongebob type memes and more and more self victimisation.
Fast forward like 2 years, and it's the most pitiful fricking thing. It's all just "Look how neurotypicals are all evil bastard" and "Boo fricking hoo, people think I'm a weird person" and "(neurodivergent trait) is so quirky amirite?". All conveyed through shit tier reaction images. It really just turned into a full pity party. Nothing constructive, nothing useful, just a whole bunch of coooomplaaaaiiining and "us vs them" bullshit. I mean, sure, there's still genuine and cool stuff with people showing off their special interests and accomplishments, but it's all soured by all the incessant garbage.

It really does come down to outward personality; if you're friendly enough and actually try to improve yourself in good faith, they'll help you no matter what. Social skills and body language are learned behaviors, just look that shit up. Ironically, Autism Speaks is a good resource for that.

Doing away with the asperger's designation and putting everyone in one gigantic spectrum was such a mistake. Now people who are mildly atypical are under the same designator as those who are literally incapable of speech and can barely function in any capacity.
Because of this all these would-be aspies get all upset whenever someone brings up that autism can be crippling disorder. Or points out any of it's downsides really. They're so darn annoying. I really hope that one day they break up the spectrum again.

It is an interesting point about the larger context of psychology. A study indicates that a "disabled" classification thry made has a higher than normal propensity for thoughtfulness. Shrinks then have to rate this as a negative, because psychology at large is centered around finding and centering around a centralized normality above anything else.
Aldous Huxley called this out as to how he thought conformity and tyranny would be sought out in the future, and he was absolutely right. An unimaginable amount of young boys are diagnosed with ADHD and given amphetamines under the pretense that it is them who are simply incorrectly composed for not conforming to their stringent definition of normality. Its quite disturbing.
