Finally, the cops were allowed to clear them out. A lawsuit against the city by the locals is still pending (because the city was actively defending and subsidizing the insurrectionists

I didn't notice many talking heads clammoring for treasonous prison terms for the CHAZtards. Why, indeed.
It's nowhere near on the same scale as the 1/6 protest, but protesters breaking into Capitols has happened before.

I'd define taking political control away from the governing body and holding ground as an insurrection. They even had their own nonsensical sense of law and order, complete with their own anarchotard police with walkie talkies driving around and enforcing whatever whenever someone called something in. They effectively stopped police from reinstating the state's control over their territory (albeit with some help from the well-intended and ideologically r-slurred City Council and Mayor holding back the police).

They did. They enforced their own rules over their own turf. They were armed. Cops tried several times to clear them (with lesser violent means) and failed. At that point, the mayor told them to backoff, and we get the 'summer of love' rubbish (which you fell for). It got so bad that the police couldn't respond to locals' calls for help because of some r*pe, robbery, or assault. They were prevented from imposing the state's law over those few city blocks.
