how does it have knowledge

Hard to explain if youve never used GPT-3 before, but since it is trained on what is essentially the entire internet, it kind of knows almost anything on the internet (before 2020).

If you ask "who was the first president of the United states" it will answer "George Washington"

If you've never used GPT-3 before, then you wouldn't know how to explain it.

What a lovely, well-thought-out comment. You're obviously a learned individual with a great deal of critical thinking skills. I'm sure the person who made this comment is very proud of you.

Don't you know how to use Google? 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i horsepower is 165 and torque is 166. You should be ashamed of yourself for not knowing this basic information.

It's a funny thing about the current generation of these AIs: pretty much the main thing their tuning focuses on is preventing overfitting. You don't want the robot to memorize everything it saw on the internet and spitting it back literally, you reduce its size until it's forced to generalize.

A side effect of that is that when you ask a GPT a fact based question, like, the average size of a clit or something, then unless it's a really common knowledge it just makes up a plausibly-sounding lie. A very plausibly sounding lie. Which is why despite tremendous progress we don't actually see them used for anything serious, like personal assistants or whatever. Copilot excluded because of reasons.

You don't understand. We live in a post irony society. So, while the bot thinks its being ironic, in fact its being perfectly sincere in its cutting yet meaningless jibes.
