5 years ago today, the emoji movie was released. I actually followed John's channel and saw that video the day it came out, which was fun. It went on for a long time, like 3 months before the actual movie was released. He actually grifted quite a bit of money too by selling merch for a movie that no one cared about.
There was also the IHE video which had high production value for a YouTube video. He recorded himself IRL up until the movie started, and cared enough to see the movie in the theater. Also, he actually predicted that there was going to be an emoji movie!
Cool.
Look at the trailer's amazing like/dislike ratio!

Heres some somewhat obscure movies that i like of various quality
Candy(2006) I like to watch this one and pretend its' the reason ledger died. it's a drug movie in the trainspotting, requeim, spun category that was popular around the time. It's pretty easy to see what the entire thing goes after like 10 minutes but it's kinda charming to watch these two fall into heroin addiction together. The director definitely went to art school of some kind and is very in love with weird shots that sometimes miss the mark.
Meet Me in St. Louis(1944) One of my favorite musicals. it might be more known than I realized since it was a clue on jeopardy, but I didn't know about it until sometime last year. Amazing sets, fun songs A FRICKING WILD halloween scene (Seriously, at least watch this scene on youtube). Judy Garland lives up to her star power, but a somewhat (ok a lot) incoherent plot leaves a lot to be desired but it's a musical so i mean whatever. Watch it with a girlfriend you'll get points i promise.
Stir of echoes 1999 so forgive me if i'm missing a big one but this movie has the same feel as sixth sense, the others etc that were popular around the time. It's a thriller with a little bit of horror elements. It has kevin bacon being pretty cool. I saw it in theatres when i was 11 and it scared the frick out of me. It's not scary anymore but it holds up imo. Not great. But if you want some background noise or you love KB check it out.
Raising arizona (1987) this one obvi isn't obscure being a coens brothers film but i find a lot of people in the wild haven't seen it. This is a GREAT film. One of my favorite comedies of all time. I remember my mother being excited to show it to me when I was young, like maybe 8 and it was great then and it's even better now. This is the Nicholas Cage role for me. Holly hunter and john goodman are fantastic. I'm not saying this is the best film of all time but only stupid people don't like it.
ok that's all just some movies i think about a lot.

First it's explicitly anti-g*mer, second it has completely sfw shots of young Jude Law putting his tongue into a bussy-like cavity.

Non-Blockbuster Michael Bay is a completely unique and engaging director. This and Pain and Gain are movies where every single decision seems to be made to answer the question of "How can I make this more obnoxious?". While Pain and Gain answered the question with twisted plot, disgusting characters, constant dutch angles and saturation Ambulance has a new tool. Drone shots. Like Netflix nature documentary amount of them. There was not moment in movie where someone not shouting, engine roaring, camera moving whether by weird angle shaky cam or drone. The dialogue has the stalest, cringiest, and crudest cultural references delivered as Marvel style quips and frequent dumb explanations to the audience of what they are doing. The characters are exceptionally brutish and stupid. The plot starts very focused and straight forward but then has weird diversion into LA Mexican gang that pays off with action setpieces. Highly recommended.

My favorite line is heterosexual s*x for a white man was a necessary evil and that homosexual s*x for pleasure was preferred. Also admitting that the arabs are white and that they brought homosexuality to Africa.

Sexy Indian dude on sexy Indian dude discrimination so lit rn:
100% commie friendly movie unlike the imperialist Forest Chud:
Instead of the black panther scene, he's going to meet Maoists in Kerala
Diversity means having a Muslim be the star of a Hindu nationalist movie:
I wonder if this is going to be patriotic propaganda like the OG, but for India.
