Newest entry in the predator universe. Surprisingly good. Some are even calling it almost as good as the first. Anyone else seen it yet? What are your views?

No write up or quick observation like last one I did for Return of the Living Dead. This one really speaks for itself, and I’m more certain will be unfamiliar to a larger number of you. This is one of my favorite spy films. Max Von Sydow is particularly excellent. If you ever wondered where Walter White got his threatening speech he gave to Elliot and Gretchen in the BB finale about “the scrape of a shoe behind you and then BANG, blackness”, he took it wholesale from this movie.

Free on Tubi currently.
Really good black comedy. I found the historical fiction aspects interesting as well. Obviously the situations are fictional but some of the power struggle and details are real.
Amusingly enough was banned in Russia and was denounced as lies by the children of Beria (cope) and Kruschev. Found that ods because you end up respecting Kruschev for unfricking some of Stalin's shit policies that were destroying the USSR.
Overall great film, all the acting is on point the writing is great and the film is interesting.

Oh yeah future bros. You gotta marry a 38 year old 45 BMI woman. Fricking a lifelike doll would be unethical. What if she develops emotions. Having s*x with an obedient ideal wife isn't true love. Trust me, only I can provide true love by getting a headache everytime you want to have s*x and by being a wine mom to three cats because I am infertile because of being a capricorn. Teehee.

Most of the Ken Burns series of documentaries are incredibly good, detailed and immersive. This is the first one of the whole compendium that misses. It fails to bring enough attention to and to highlight the problem with children growing up addicted to video games and social media and how that is a direct connection to the mental health issues, suicide and school shootings.

The best part of the movie was explaining to people who hadn't seen it yet "Basically the plot line is that the crickets are too big and there is a food shortage so they assemble the original cast to break into a lab to make the crickets smaller and then ignite a dinosaur war (with a few gun fights and dirtbike chases) and then at the end no one dies and the T-Rex wins a 2v1 against a bigger dinosaur with another dino that is Edward Scissor Hands"
Also apparently nobody in the movie dies or something.
This is what Jurassic park has stooped down to.
At this point it really does feel like they dug back after the corpse of Jurassic Park after milking it dry, then cloned it via mixing it with soy DNA to create this ...this ... whatever the frick it is.

The thing I've always loved about the Simpsons is that the jokes are designed to make you laugh, but also make you think.

Maybe no one else cares, but I think there is such a crazy dichotomy between these two pieces of media.
HBOs Woodstock 99 - a traditional documentary. The conceit is that this huge thing was done a long thing ago with no planning, but it was great. So they tried to do it again with no planning. "The failure was idealism and a lack of planning."
Netflix's Trainwreck - as far as I can tell, the conceit is twofold: "hey, we've all been to festivals!" and "hey, we've all seen that doc about Fyre, right? That same thing totally happened in just as crazy of a way before you were born. It was totally just as crazy!" The crowd even shouted for Sheryl Crow to show her tits! In 1999! At a concert!
I'm open to arguments, but darn it seems like the whole first episode of the Netflix version is interviews with people saying "dude I was so high in 99!"

Second Video:
It's a pretty funny and heartwarming comedy show about disaffected American Indian teenagers trying to get off their reservation.

As of 2018, an estimated 880,000 non-citizens had made the County their home,
contributing significantly to improving the lives of us all. Y
Yes! All the contributions to taco trucks, mowing lawns, and removing trash. We have the best workforce, folks!
These applicants, who often express deep interest for public service and a
sincere desire to pursue a career representing indigent LA County residents, reflect the
County’s values of inclusivity and compassion. Further, their lived experience as
immigrants places them in a unique position to relate to and connect with the diverse
communities the County serves. The competition to recruit well-qualified attorneys is
extremely high and the citizenship restriction represents a significant missed opportunity
for the Public Defender and the County.
Imagine needing a public attorney, and the only one the county will give you is a non-english speaking flub that didn't need to pass the bar.

I'm sure many / most of you have seen the movie, but there are a TON of interesting easter eggs about this movie and IN the movie itself (look out for the Eye Chart in an early scene). I normally wouldn't link to a react, but I think most of us here probably like RLM, so let me know if this isn't something you want me to post anymore.
Anyway, if you HAVEN'T seen the movie, you need to. It's more horror than comedy, but the comedic bits are up there with Evil Dead 2 or Dead / Alive. What makes this film WORK as a comedy is the fact that Dan O'Bannon (writer and director, also the original writer for Ridley Scott's ALIEN) actually rehearsed the actors for a few weeks prior to shooting, to get a more relaxed and natural feel from the dialogue (this is why you hear the actors sometimes "stepping over" or interrupting the end of another's lines-- it is more natural to real life and it was so rehearsed the actors delivered the lines almost as an afterthought.
Plenty of great old actors as well, Clu Gulager, James Karen, and Don Calfa, with his amazing pug-dog eyes.
If you haven't seen the movie, as I said, watch it, but maybe skip this RLM review, and instead check out the trailer:
Darn, just re-read this and it looks like seriousposting. I just fricking love this movie so goddarned much.

Honestly it's a pretty nice look into VR world of these people. It's not all horny weebs, there are people learning sign language and art, or just hanging out.
Part of me is jealous I'm not pathetic enough to get into this, but I'm still pathetic enough to be here

Really inspiring performance from rosie here
"HURR DURR IM A DUMBFRICK R-SLUR HURR DURRR DUUUH "
Just phenomenal. I wonder what lengths she went to prepraring for this role.
"DURR IM SPECIAL DUHRP"
Amazing social commentary. Really got to me when the meanie bus passengers chastise her for being on welfare or whatever.
"DUUUUUUH I LIKE DAH BUS HUUURRRR "
Truly a timeless classic masterpiece.
