People at that size commonly rely on CPAP machines to get proper sleep. It pushes pressurized air into their airways to prevent them from collapsing or getting blocked, which can cause them to snore or get jolted awake from the suffocation.
Imagine being so fat that your airways constrict if you're not consciously breathing.
