>all of the inflated prices are above the stated 9%
That article, however, was peak Bugman "accept the lower standard of living, CHUD" nonsense. It makes me want to [REDACTED FOR FEDPOSTING]
Anyways, here's the sigma recipe for firmly avoiding inflation
>Turkey: $0.98 (cost of 3" #4 shell fired out of pipe gun at turkey in local park in front of city hall)
>Mashed potatoes: free (acquired from grain silo that I live in)
>Pumpkin pie: $2.00 (cost of lockpick used to enter Safeway at 3pm and use commercial kitchen and ingredients to cook elaborate desserts. Remember what they took from you)
>Drinks: $4.68 for brewers yeast to make prison hooch out of miscellaneous edible plant matter acquired from dumpsters
>Living free in the rafters of an industrial park safely concealed from new world order mind control rays? Priceless
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. That article was sensible and well-reasoned, unlike your drivel. And as for your "sigma recipe," it's obvious you don't know anything about economics. Inflation is a natural and necessary part of the economic cycle. Trying to "avoid" it is futile and will only make your life harder.

Would have paid: $4.80
Actually paid: $2.92
Total savings: 40%
Frick you, you fricking entitled butt r-slurred-as-frick NYT writers who are so far removed from reality that you think this "article" is anything besides a masturbatory exercise. You think normal fricking people are going to waste time to make from-scratch rolls instead of buying the ones they have every year to save $2? Are you fricking serious.
Scratch rolls are delicious and should be in your inventory for nice dinners and events though. But I would do a rich dough with milk, fat and some sort of sugar instead of a lean dough for that fluffy white

This is genuinely one of the most tone deaf, offensive things I have ever seen put to print.
"Hello, poors! We know that times are tough if you're not an educated journ*list like us who knows how to grift your tax dollars into our bank accounts. So, we've prepared a set of dehumanizing options to set at your dinner table this holiday season to further remind you of the miserable scarcity which now defines your lives as a result of government policy we entirely support! You're welcome!"
Like do they really think people don't have butter or potatoes? These are fricking staple foods! I suppose if you doordash every meal it might be difficult to remember what a working household actually keeps stocked. It's like an entire newsroom of Lucille Bluths lecturing their poor dumb inferiors on how to save their few precious kopeks.
Jesus this made me upset, I'm going to go spend time with my family. I might hate them, but at least it's not as much as these people hate the average American.

In their defense, at this point NPRs target audience is the kind of people that tightening their belt means taking one less vacation this year and cooks near ready made meals. Not people who know how to stretch a meal. They don't seem to even consider a turkey will likely feed everyone on Thanksgiving, provide at least 3 leftover meals, and like 4-5 gallons of stock.

the author has to be a troll, there's no way lmao. baby food in place of oils is literally a pro-ana thing so fricking sad if people are genuinely at that point that they can't even splurge once a year... hope they don't listen to this article tho cus there's no way bacon is better value than a turkey, this guy is r-slurred
The baby food was really fricking weird. I could see substituting butter with a herb infused oil if you are trying to write an article. But baby food is flavorless, disgusting puree.
It's more about the Midwest mindset actually, even though Utah is kind of west. But you'll see this at Methodist, Lutherans, Presbyterian and Anabaptist gatherings all over the plains.
2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup, 1 bag tater tots, 1 can fried crispy onions. Add whatever else you want, give it a name like Ethels Cowboy Surprise.
Did u know Thanksgiving is just celebrating our occupation of indigenous lands?? Anyway to save money and eat healthier i pre portioned every serving to just under 500 calories and substituted the expensive and white supremacist ingredients with locally grown beans, mushrooms i foraged and tofurkey from the local marxist coop

Atleast name another entree meat like a roast or a ham or chicken or duck or any other alternative to a full turkey. Journos hill straight to just cooking up a few packs of bacon
A nice meatloaf with ground beef and maybe lentils and some breadcrumbs as filler would make a better entree than a fricking pile of bacon and be more filling too.
Why are we substituting potatoes? Serve less, add some roast rutabaga as a side.
Just get some lamb breast, beef brisket/shortrib, or spatchpeepee duck/chicken Hilarious how they push lima beans mashed instead of potatoes lmao you can get a literal sack of them very cheap already.
