Incidentally in place of Bhetki(though you should be able to find it if there's any Bangladeshi fish stores in your neighbourhood :marseyshrug:) any generally bland tasting fish should work. I don't think oily or sea fish would taste particularly good with this method but I've never tried it. For some reason this is the only fish traditionally cooked in this style.

How all our other coastal populations are such r-slurs to ignore such a plentiful source of protein right next to them I have no idea. :marseyshrug: I guess not smellus but the rest of you.

Everyone :marseynorm: in my family :marseydeathpose: loves fish, my aversion comes mainly from the traditional andhra fish curry. Some people like my BIL die for it, so does my mom my granny :marseybabushka: granpa etc. I just cant stand it for some reason, just like my dad. I eat fish in other forms like apollo fish or fish fry but that too rarely

Ah yeah, I try to have local cuisine when I visit someplace but I had an Andhra chicken curry in one place and switched to gravy less things for the rest of the trip lol.

Tbh the curry we typically have isn't particularly tasty either. But its bland, Andhra curry felt like it'd burn through my stomach.

the andhra curry :marseypajeetitsover: can be less spicy as well, the thing with that is, they cook it in the morning :marseycoffee: and let it marinade (if thats the right :marseyhesfluffyyouknow: word) AFTER cooking :marseybiggerfish: and eat it for dinner.
