i just realized that the solder i've been using for the past 3 days has lead in it
i've been soldering in my room without the window open because i assumed it was lead free solder. my eyes started feeling dry and i realized that it had lead in it
Lead is the most impactful on brain development, less so when your already grown up and r-slurred. Also it's by far the best solder over that fake shit which doesn't stick to fricking anything, using lead is really the smart choice unless you're a baby.
TBH lead-free solder is not much better for you, the nasty-butt flux most brands use is worse for you than the lead, and lead-free brands usually use more to get it to flow right.

The lead doesn't vaporize at the temperatures you're soldering at, just don't eat it. It's probably the flux that's bothering you. Lead solder is supposed to be drastically better btw, I've never used lead free though.

Lead is better than the cheap lead free but it's not a huge difference. People really try to optimize this sort of shit, welding is another example. I get perfectly good welds with a 110v buzz box and harbor freight rods. Sometimes it's best to not think too hard.
If you're feeling anything it's from the vaporized flux you've been huffing. You're not getting any lead from soldering if you wash your hands and work area when you're done.
omg hi @DaddyReagan!!! okay so this is like super awkward omg but basically i had to remove ur comment bc u didnt say trans lives matter lol. don't worry though, we like wont let you post anything that like doesnt have trans lives matter in it. anyways im like just a robot 😲 but if u want to talk 2 somebody you should do it here lol
On makezine in the 00s there was a case of some guy getting lead poisoning from soldering, they made a programmable light up dance floor for their dorm and had to solder hundreds and hundreds of LEDs into grids. Probably 30 hours of soldering
They were soldering in the dorm, no ventilation and hunched over the iron. Afaik he got limp wrists (lead poisoning actually gives you strag hands fr fr) and general malaise. Made a full recovery
Get a long cardboard box (I've simply used ones for cat food), cut a 12 cm hole on it (CDs are almost perfect for it), screw on a 12 cm PC fan, power it (old PSU works or cut up a charger that's 7-12v, fans don't give a shit), aim one end at the slightly open window, other near your soldering station. Congrats, you've just made a smoke extractor out shit laying around.
It's quite literally the setup I use currently, both for soldering and for smoking inside with an open window if there's rain/snow/fricking 60 km/h winds outside, because both of these activities are fricking nasty without pulling out the smoke.

Lead boils at a temp much hotter than your soldering iron/torch will heat it. Just wash your hands.
If it has rosin in it that stuff isn't good for you and will irritate your eyes a bit but I think you'd need to huff the shit for a long time before it started to frick with you.
Solder without lead and rosin sucks. A fume extractor is like 30 bucks on amazon so if you solder a lot consider getting one.

I think lead also is biologically similar to calcium so you'll get it incorporated into your bones and shit

It would take weeks of continuous exposure to have any effect. You'll be fine.
Lead solder is way better for soldering than the tin/silver or whatever ROHS junk is

i soldered ~4 25ft wires together today and the headers on a pi pico yesterday
i had to desolder the pi pico because i installed it backwards (possiblely because of the lead-induced r-sluration)

How do you ventilate indoors? Is opening a window enough? I have a soldering kit I haven't used yet, but I would like to start crafting things soon.
