What did :marseygeisha: mean by this?

I have a Chinese follower/stalker who occasionally mails things to my work. Today I received this note together with a book (she sent it a long time ago but I never check my work mail). I tried Google translate but it doesn't really make sense or maybe it's some kind of metaphor. Can anybody here translate?

Literally: (although) the Ruo River is three thousand li long, one only drinks one ladle worth of water from it.

Later on, this phrase was used as a metaphor for choosing only one companion out of all potential mates.

Lmao
