The interim period between the dotcom bust of 2000 and the emergence of web2.0 was a very underrated time for the internet. Late millenioids and zoomers will never know what it was like to experience classic newgrounds, funnyjunk, ebaumsworld, etc. One long lost relic among those that’s been all but forgotten was zThing, which was an early, but short-lived site for flash animations. Much of the content was very much a product of its time and has not aged well at all, but experiencing the novelty of it in a pre-9/11 era of internet was one of a kind. Luckily, some people were nice enough to reupload some of the animations from the site onto youtube over the years, but its sad knowing youll never get another chance to shoot the backstreet boys in the balls in some shitty flash game.
