It doesn't matter. The job of data scientists is to plausibly "prove" things are "true" that executives want to be true.
At my old job at a marketing company, they had a team of stats PhDs who kept blabbing on and on about "null hypothesis" and "statistical significance" and said we needed to run our A/B/C/D/E test for 150 years because they were changing too many variables and we didn't have that much traffic anyway.
They fired the statistics geeks and replaced them with data scientists who provided beautiful charts proving D had the most lift on conversion because the yellow line went up more than the other lines over the previous week.

I met some RSP foid fans via my old gf, one of them was a data scientist and I assumed we'd get along cuz I'm a programmer. And then I overheard one of her zoom calls and it was some of the most r-slurred shit. One of the black guys on her team had a dramatic meltdown during the team meeting, verbally attacking people and rage quitting, and before that it sounded like a bullshit mill. Then I started noticing she wasn't very bright. She was extremely good at quietly fitting in and never adding anything interesting to convos

I used to hook up with a DS girl who was one of those “day in the life in tech” tiktokers who made vids about how she worked 30 minutes per day. She ended up getting fired and the newspaper did a big article about her. Then she got a new job as a DS girlie somewhere else and continued doing the same thing (nothing)

It is though. If you mess with the path or install a distribution that has python integrated in it without necessarily installing it to the whole machine, it gets really tedious. I know frickall about data structures or whatever this is related to, but I tried installing a distribution with integrated python in a different drive once because C was running out of space and instead ended up having to troubleshoot it for several days and just redo it a different way in the end
Call me r-slurred, but for non-CScels it really isn't as intuitive when you want to mess around with installation parameters

I remember first hearing about this guy when he got completely BTFO'd by a notorious rightoid anon statbro.. Basically he saw a graph that he had made being shared around and tried to rebut its conclusions by WORDS WORDS WORDSing and obfuscating ('muh citation,' 'muh selection criteria,' 'muh discussion section'). Then the guy showed up in the replies pointing out the citation in the bottom right corner of the image, and walked him through how to recreate the data. He was blocked by the STATPOC shortly afterwards.
If you're on the xitter you should follow this guy btw. He tweets commentary on like ~20 different studies each day, has hundreds of longer form substack articles on the same that he wrote within the span of a year. Absolutely prodigious content output. Practically a modern-day Francis Galton.

Honestly relatable (not necessarily with Python specifically). But I'd never admit this in a non-anon setting, especially if I were a BIPOC “data scientist” at a major university. Most people already presume you're regarded and were given the job solely because you're BIPOC.
I've only met one BIPOC programmer who would have gotten the job irrespective of race, and he was Ethiopian, which is only sorta kinda BIPOC (and definitely not BIPOC according to them).

Make an assumption about equally sized boxes and give an answer (51).
Even if they showed each individual box, an r-slur could say, "derrr there could be boxes inside the truck and its tires, so not enough information ."
It's r-slurred nitpicking that only mathcels care about. Give them a real world problem, and they'd never solve it.
Jump in the discussion.

So you agree that he is correct? You can't answer the question without making an assumption because there isn't enough information
This has nothing to do with it.
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
To a degree, I agree, but that's why you state assumptions and make your conclusion in order to give an answer. That's what you have to do in the social sciences because you won't have perfect information nor will everything be tractable like the mathematicians demand (and hence can't solve real world problems).
There never will be enough information. Like Adolin mentioned, you can give a range from 31 or so to, as I said, a billion because there could be a billion little boxes hidden inside. That's another answer.
The question proposed can be answered, but he can't answer it because he's a tad r-slurred.

Fun fact: no company has ever been able to produce an AI which can consistently distinguish between monkeys and black people. Self-driving cars are here, so are universal voice translators, self-aiming guns, and pocket-computers which can recognize every single product in a live video. But distinguishing between monkeys and black people is as difficult as solving a millenium prize problem, teams of PHD computer scientists will be working on it for decades before they get a solution which works well enough to be media-outrage-proof.
When someone finally finds the solution, they won't be make headlines, but they'll be happy knowing they solved the AI problem of the century. They'll tell normies that they just fiddle around with facial recognition algorithms all day, but to people in the know, he'll be known as "Tom, the absolute genius who spent 26 years teaching google images how to tell blacks apart from apes".
