Hello social medias, this is a heavy post so please keep scrolling if needed.
I know you remember my Torah portion was about Moses forgiving his brothers.
Sexual, physical, emotional, verbal, financial, and technological abuse. Never forgotten
I'm not four years old with a 13 year old “brother” climbing into my bed non-consensually anymore.
Already flagged to death on Hacker News but getting some traction on Twitter:

Fellow rDrama redditors, come sneed in the comments about how you'll totes quit after this or when they kill old reddit or if you came from 4chan, sharty, kiwifarms, or anywhere that isn't reddit or twitter, laugh and celeberate in the comments about how Reddit is killing itself
If I have to use the official Reddit app on my phone, I will simply not use Reddit on my phone.
Why is the pricing so high? It would cost me a comical $20 million dollars a year to keep my app running as-is, an app that like many third-party apps, have many moderators that depend on it.
I'm not sure if you understand how important third party apps are to the Reddit ecosystem. Not only do they provide an opportunity for folks who don't like the official app to be able to still use Reddit on-the-go, but many of the moderators who serve as the backbone of the entire site rely on third-party apps to do their job.
As a number, Apollo currently has over 7000 moderators of subreddits with over 20K subscribers who use Apollo, from /r/Pics, to /r/AskReddit, to /r/Apple, to /r/IAmA, etc. It would be easy to imagine that combined with other third-party apps across iOS and Android that well over 10,000 of the top subreddits use third-party apps to moderate and keep their community operating.
This is equivalent to going to a construction site and taking away all the workers' favorite tools, only to replace them with different, corporate-mandated ones. Except the construction workers are also building your houses for free.
Why infuriate so many people and communities?
Our intent is not to shut down third-party apps. Our pricing is specifically based on usage levels that we measure to be as equitable as possible. We’re happy to work with third-party apps to help them improve efficiency, which can significantly impact overall cost. [-156, admin]

From this blog post it seems that it's only for "Indian English accents"
Accent Localization: localizes Indian English accents so that US-based customers hear US-neutral accents. This is done so that there is no perceived delay during the call and agents sound natural in their speech, tones and pitch.

Old Gam-Gam off put by that "exotic" sounding man on the phone?? Well no longer, you can kiss your inheritance goodbye forever.
Well that call about your car insurance sounds american so you don't hang up immediately, until you've wasted 20 minutes and realize the call is coming from Bangalore.
Reactions from a rightoid Twitter account, there is probably some drama here idk
This is kinda a loss all around I think. Because at the very least Indian scam call workers had a motivation to improve their English and all that but what's gonna be the point now??

Kolektiva is an anti-colonial anarchist collective that offers federated social media to anarchist collectives and individuals in the fediverse. For the social movements and liberation!
In mid-May 2023, the home of one of Kolektiva.social's admins was raided, and all their electronics were seized by the FBI. The raid was part of an investigation into a local protest. Kolektiva was neither a subject nor target of this investigation. Today, that admin was charged in relation to their alleged participation in this protest.
Unfortunately, at the time of the raid, our admin was troubleshooting an issue and working with a backup copy of the Kolektiva.social database. This backup, dated from the first week of May 2023, was in an unencrypted state when the raid occurred and it was seized, along with everything else.
The database is the heart of a Mastodon server. A database copy such as the one seized may include any of the following user data, in this case up to date as of early May 2023:
- User account information like the e-mail address associated with your account, your followers and follows, etc.
- All your posts: public, unlisted, followers-only, and direct ("DMs").
- Possibly IP addresses associated with your account - IP addresses on Kolektiva.social are logged for 3 days and then deleted, so IP addresses from any logins in the 3 days prior to the database backup date would be included.
- A hashed ("encrypted") version of your password.

Lots of seethe on Twitter. Discuss the societal implications, and what degenerate thing you're going to make when stable diffusion released their copy in a year!
Also, what will it take for Yann LeCum to admit he is wrong? We'll have AIs that simulate the future and he will still be arguing they aren't intelligent and his model (which is essentially the same thing) is better
