We're living in a very different world today, lol.
Russia fricked up real bad this time. They slammed into a fairly large country with 170k troops. The number required for an offensive like that was closer to 500-600k.
They lost some 2000 tanks and don't really have the ability to replace them in any decent timeframe.
They've been sanctioned to a very extreme extent.
I keep seeing people say stuff like this. The simple fact they even launched this war while being so wildly unprepared shows a serious level of delusion within the Russian government.

Infantry numbers matter less when you have combined arms capability. Russia does not.
Either way 600k isn't a lot, infantry numbers to an extent matter. The context of our argument was me pointing out China having 12mil troops didn't matter at all.

It’s more than combined arms; it’s complete and effective air supremacy. The US could get away with only 200k for Iraq because of mass bombings that broke Iraq into a rout quickly. Russia didn’t even attempt that and probably couldn’t have.

Yes. Ukraine’s government and military would’ve been completely disconnected by a massive shock and awe bombing campaign and the US would occupy the nation within 1-2 months. With significantly more civilian casualties than what russia has done.

From 1916 - 1942 Russia was a dysfunctional backwater, from 1943 - 1954 they were a dysfunctional but almost developing backwater with a big army, and from 1955 - Present they’ve literally just been bluffing. Russia never recovered from getting BTFO in WWI.
