Was gonna say the same - this is more what a balrog would look like according to Tolkien's book descriptions although the winged horned demon balrogs are way cooler IMHO.
I just read that passage and he mentions it has large wings multiple times (but it's probably a lot more human-like than in the movies, since Frodo when he can barely see it, describes it as "like a man but much greater")
On the other hand, the explicit reference to "wings of shadow" leaves open the interpretation that Balrogs had no physical wings. Balrogs were never exactly described as flying in any of Tolkien's works
you did the normal "highlights are brighter and on the exposed details". fire doesn't work like that - it's brighter when it's hotter, thus close to the source.
wanted to post an example, but there's even a yt tutoral that shows the same model you have
True but that seemed like a lot more work than just slapping one layer of contrast paint. I always thought it was funny how GWs painting guide got it wrong too
and yeah, it doesnt really matter, cause most people dont care attention to such an r-slured detail like flame-logic. "does it look cool?" "yeah". i at least tell myself that cause my latest fire elemental is also wrong ;)

Balrogs aren't supposed to have wings

Tolkien worked on this movie so this is the most accurate balrog depiction

you have most of the colors inverted.
