Weekly ‘What’re you playing?’ Thread #20: Summer Salestice

It sure is the season for buying games you’ll never play! I remember when Steam had flash sales and activities during their sales… good times… You’d have to check back regularly or miss the actual good discounts. :marseyboomer:

I’ve been meaning to start this for like 8 months but I’m intimidated by it and feel like I need a week where I can commit to full time hermit mode to get the hang of it

Is this accurate

Is it as wonderful as I imagine it is

I've been beating my head against it for the past week and I've been having a good time. The steep learning curve is part of the fun. Wander around the desert being murdered until you figure out how not to be immediately murdered. Then starvation becomes your problem, which you then eventually solve, so on and so forth.

How are you meant to make money? I keep bleeding out a few hours into each run because I run out of money for med kits.

For non-cheese in the early game it's all about grinding copper and/or iron. Find a node close to town and park someone on it. Once you've bought a building you can set up the automation so they mine and run back to town to store it but you still need to keep an eye on them in case of roving bandits or animals. Dragging bandit groups back to town for the guards to kill and then looting everything on their corpses works alright too in the early game.

If you want to cheese thieving is completely broken. You can make an absurd amount of money breaking into shops at night and taking everything of value.
