Weekly ‘What’re you playing?’ Thread #20: Summer Salestice

It sure is the season for buying games you’ll never play! I remember when Steam had flash sales and activities during their sales… good times… You’d have to check back regularly or miss the actual good discounts. :marseyboomer:

I'm continuing my Dark Souls 2 human-maxxed run. So far I haven't died that much (other than Shrine of Amana), but I hope I'll make it through the DLC areas okay. I've run into a few players on Saturday afternoon/evenings, including a couple invaders, and I've tried out some of the NPC summons. While I prefer solo-ing as a first experience, DS2 in particular seems like it wants you to engage with the summon system. Lots of areas have NPCs available well before the boss, and the gankier areas are both fairer and more fun with an extra human player. Group mechanics, neat dungeon crawls, and the methodical combat system give DS2 the vibe of an edgy DnD campaign to me. While I understand people's problems with DS2, it has a special place in my heart, with both my favorite early-game and my favorite DLC levels of the series.
