Weekly ‘What Games Are You Playing' thread #26

I love the Indian Fallout 3 memes so much.

Played some Civ6, it's a lot better than I expected but I really dislike how the expansions are broken into separate game modes and can't be combined. The handling of districts and wonder taking up tiles is very interesting and over all I think the city management is better than 5 due to having to make either/or decisions instead of being able to get everything without a downside. Haven't played too much so can't give a super deep opinion.

Beat House of the Dead Remake, it was fun, but would never recommend buying it since it's like 30 minutes long. Fun though.

Slowly making my way through Quake.

Also finished Milk Inside a Bag of Milk, “nice” little visual novel. I can see why the people who recommended me it enjoyed the game. Will play Milk Outside a Bag of Milk soon.

Tried giving minecraft a try after seeing some zoomer online making some interesting shit, but it just ain't the same. I feel like mojang are killing the game with these meaningless updates that seem fun on paper but in reality take like 10 minutes to rush through and never return back to because there are better options available.

To me it almost seems like minecraft is a game that is more fun to watch than to play

It really is bizarre how meaningless, the updates feel, and how sluggishly they are release. There is content that is good there, but there is so little of it spread over too much time to feel impactful.

People often say that the developers release the updates slower than modders make new mods (much more expansive than any official updates mind you), because of quality control, cohesion, etc. But at this point it just feels like the team handling the game is just sluggish, and incompetent. Worst of all, completely sold on the vision of Minecraft being a game for kids, to the detriment of players wanting to adventure in it.

And the vision is barely coherent, which you could see with the: "oh no frogs can't eat fireflies they are poisonous", and then having the frogs eat cubes of magma.

TLDR: Fire everyone working on Minecraft right now! (Jeb can stay to collect his retirement money.)

I really wish we could've seen minecraft from an alternative timeline where Notch didn't sell it and kept in charge

I heard good things about Vintage Story, which looks like a Minecraft mod, but is a completely separate game.

No idea how good, or how similar it is though, I don't really have time and energy to check it out properly (too busy with drama browsing, and other important tasks).

It's good but the dev has been a little sluggisher than I'd like. Substantial updates are still coming but they could just happen more often. The game is still missing a couple musthave features.

Literally just mod it up the wazoo.

I remember years ago I said, "If I wanted to play Terraria I would just play Terraria, it'd be dumb if minecraft went that route."

Lol
