Weekly ‘What Games Are You Playing' thread #32

Been Starfielding. Even my Cookie Clicker time has suffered. I'm consistently surprised by this game in post positive and sort of negative ways. Turns out there was a whole city I hadn't gone to on Titan. Also all the fast travel loading screens in cities like New Atlantis aren't real, it's not like Oblivion or whatever where the city is sectioned off. You can just go from one district to another and it's all there, so why so many loading screens and fast travel prioritized? Just to make it feel bigger or something? Weird decision. Also would have been nice to have a few of the non-main story companions a bit more fleshed out or let you take a few more characters from faction quests as companions.

I've been playing more Starfield at the expense of time with RimWorld, which I feel disappointed in myself about. But I feel like I might be getting close to finishing up the main story so I might give it a break after that.

I finished one of the UC storylines, about the knock-off xenomorphs. While there were some good gameplay sections, the story wrap-up was a wet fart, and then I had to endure all of the Constellation dweebs whining at me for 'not trusting the science' (verbatim!) regarding the resolution I chose.

On that topic, while there are some good story moments and even some decent writing in places, all of the characters it has you interact with the closest are either uninteresting or straight up unlikable. Sarah is just absolutely awful, and Matteo and Noel also are overdue for atomic wedgies. More than that, there doesn't seem to be much variety in what I guess you could call their alignment - all of the characters who tag along with you are some shade of do-gooder, even the ones who initially are presented as roguish or morally ambiguous. What I'd give for a companion more like Canderous Ordo or HK47.

Also you can't frick the robot. :marseyangrygamer:

Do the crimson fleet storyline. There's companions at their bar that don't suck

Yeah, everyone in constellation is way to goody two shoes. The closest to something interesting is the lady who gives me albanian vibes who at least is a very lawful-good, emphasis on lawful. The mission where you decide the fate of the artifact thief, she was happy i said the dude who got shot in the gut and is sitting a pool of blood should go to jail because stealing = wrong. It would have behooved bethesda to put a bit more effort into making the non-constellation companions worthwhile.
