Weekly ‘What Games Are You Playing' thread #32

Been Starfielding. Even my Cookie Clicker time has suffered. I'm consistently surprised by this game in post positive and sort of negative ways. Turns out there was a whole city I hadn't gone to on Titan. Also all the fast travel loading screens in cities like New Atlantis aren't real, it's not like Oblivion or whatever where the city is sectioned off. You can just go from one district to another and it's all there, so why so many loading screens and fast travel prioritized? Just to make it feel bigger or something? Weird decision. Also would have been nice to have a few of the non-main story companions a bit more fleshed out or let you take a few more characters from faction quests as companions.

Finished AC6's first ending this weekend, and pimping up my AC for more flair in NG+.

I've been playing more Starfield at the expense of time with RimWorld, which I feel disappointed in myself about. But I feel like I might be getting close to finishing up the main story so I might give it a break after that.

I finished one of the UC storylines, about the knock-off xenomorphs. While there were some good gameplay sections, the story wrap-up was a wet fart, and then I had to endure all of the Constellation dweebs whining at me for 'not trusting the science' (verbatim!) regarding the resolution I chose.

On that topic, while there are some good story moments and even some decent writing in places, all of the characters it has you interact with the closest are either uninteresting or straight up unlikable. Sarah is just absolutely awful, and Matteo and Noel also are overdue for atomic wedgies. More than that, there doesn't seem to be much variety in what I guess you could call their alignment - all of the characters who tag along with you are some shade of do-gooder, even the ones who initially are presented as roguish or morally ambiguous. What I'd give for a companion more like Canderous Ordo or HK47.

Also you can't frick the robot. :marseyangrygamer:

Do the crimson fleet storyline. There's companions at their bar that don't suck

Yeah, everyone in constellation is way to goody two shoes. The closest to something interesting is the lady who gives me albanian vibes who at least is a very lawful-good, emphasis on lawful. The mission where you decide the fate of the artifact thief, she was happy i said the dude who got shot in the gut and is sitting a pool of blood should go to jail because stealing = wrong. It would have behooved bethesda to put a bit more effort into making the non-constellation companions worthwhile.

JUST LOST A FRICKING 4 HOUR RUN IN NOITA, WAS ON THE WAY TO GETTING GOD STATUS

For fellow Noita chads, had a real strong start, cleared the first four levels, did one heart trick, went back to the surface, turned the lake into mana, took all the gold in the top right gold room, got the earth essence item, got the music notes and made an incredibly strong wand with short range homing, then ventured back down into the jungle. There was a chest that caught fire with healthium and poly and somehow exploded, got poly'd into a sheep and killed by the plant that shoots projectiles. NOITA'D :marseyraging::marseyrope:

Doom Eternal is much more challenging than 2016. I applaud your effort.

I cannot wait for Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections.

CANNOT WAIT :marseyletsfuckinggo2: :!marseysharingan:

Meanwhile I am still playing FF13 because this game is ridiculously long and I haven't had a lot of free time and now I have an obsession to get all the achievements.

I've been playing Pharaoh again, as they apparently remade it into this Pharaoh: A New Era game. It's pretty close to the original and fun. They did basically strip combat mechanics from the game (which a bunch of people have been bitching about) but the combat was always super buggy and not terribly fun anyways.

I played it for xbone, got past the griffin in the beginning then forgot about it.

Then I played it for ps4, got past the griffin and forgot again.

I now have it for ps5, and will likely do the same.

Gonna replay witcher 2 first, that game was fricking kino.

I liked it and then it just kept going and for some reason I stopped liking it. I've heard that the dlcs are much better but a lot of the game is just too repetitive.

Europa Universalis 4, and C&C Generals (modded by me).

Not much to comment on. Pretty sure I suck at EU4, but Poland is strong enough country to offset that. Tried playing Oman and got wiped out very fast.

what would you recommend for a newstrag to start out with the EU-type games? All the console slop is getting boring and I wanna expand my autism

If your autism can carry through all the managing stuff, then CK2 is probably better. You also get more interesting and personal stories in CK2.

EU4 is for you to play out your imperialist fantasies. I personally think it is easier to get familiar than CK2.

I'm no expert I played Stellaris, EU4 and HoI 4. Stellaris is definitely the odd man, ironically it's probably the most "normal" video game out of the three.

HoI 4 is preparing for war, and war, and war, and war. Not much economy management, not much diplomacy (there is some, but limited) has much better combat than EU 4 though.

EU 4 is probably what most people think when they hear of 4x games. I feel this one is the best to start out of the three. It's still more combat heavy, with the combat not being that great I feel, but economy and diplomacy are viable to get stronger.

I would recommend looking it up yourself, because I'm just an butthole on the internet, and include Crusader Kings since I haven't played it, but I heard really good things about it.

Also, unless you fancy yourself a good person, are rich, or want multiplayer I recommend obtaining the games from alternative sources, since they are all ungodly expensive especially with the DLC, and DLC are often very much needed for a full experience.

EU4 or Crusader Kings 2/3 are your best bet. I want to say that the base version of CK2 is free to play now?

Copped Jedi Survivor. Waited this long because I heard the performance and bugs were atrocious. So far it's pretty good. They took the first game, then improved the combat complexity and expanded the world

Armored Core 6 AND Silent Line simultaneously, preparing myself for Last Raven (not really interested in Nexus). Really highlights how easy AC6 is compared to the previous games tbh. TF2 here and there too but honestly feels like its hard to get a fun game nowadays :marseydespair:
