Weekly "What are you playing thread?!" :marsey: :marseyviewerstare: #43

Since @Losercel is too busy being a christcuck :marseyorthodox: he's kindly asked me to keep the thread going this week :marseywave2:

So WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING?! :marseysipping:

You do play video games right? :marseysteaming:

I've been sick recently so all I've recently played are Warhammer 3 Total War modded on Legandary difficulty. Using the immortal empires expanded mod

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3007996493

I use this as a stage for a number of faction mods and mechanics tweaks to play test and mess around in. :marseyantiwork:

Currently still in a campaign rn nearing the end soon.

I recommend SCM's mods. There's a mod pack for 17 new factions that are quite niche :marseyhappy2:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3113531421

Anyway that's all from me.

Share your new games and recommendations. :marseywave2:

Started a survival Skyrim :marseydovahkiin: playthrough as a Breton paladin (heavy armor, claymores, restoration) been pretty :marseyglam: fun had never :marseyitsover: actually :marseynerd3: done a survival playthrough but I had to add mods for additional carriage stops because I'm not that neurodivergent :marseyslm:

Bethesda survival modes are always an interesting way to interact with their games, although they are rarely designed with them in mind. Added only as a response to the survival mode of New Vegas, or rather the public outcry over its absence in Fallout 4 at release, Bethesda has no idea what made it fun. They just crank the difficulty to 11, disable fast travel and add a bunch of arbitrary rules around the “needs” mechanic. If I remember correctly, Skyrim's survival mode makes quests that take place high up in the mountains outright unbearable, as the cold weather kills you while you are listening to NPC exposition. Azura's quest and High Hrothgar are the biggest offenders, I think.

Finally finished Red Alert 3 (Uprising). Second Empire mission took me around 7/8 tries :marseydeadinside:. Still, I'm really surprised how much I enjoyed this game, especially when it's by many considered the worst C&C, and my prior bad experience with it.

I even enjoyed the skirmish games more than before, support power abuse is probably the biggest joy killer there is, so you need to rush before late game powers come online. If they were nerfed the game would be more in my ballpark. Also, if base defences were not borderline useless. I just prefer to take some time instead of going super fast all the time, but I have to accept that's not how this game was designed. :marseyshrug:

Also it has the best AI from any RTS game I've played. It's really responsive.

And the OST is great. Choir of mecha storm has been playing on repeat in my head since yesterday.

Started playing RE4 Remake and I like it a lot, but I do have some complaints.

1. It's poorly optimized. I get fps drops sometimes using a 3070ti.

2. Sound is broken even though I selected the Headphones option. When enemies make noises I can hear they are very close to me when in reality they are actually far away.

3. It didn't scare me at all and I'm at chapter 4 already.

Thanks for the WHIII mod recommendations. I was trying the Old World mod which had been trending on the subreddit.

I actually think it's fricking awful. There is way too much distance between each province and the new minor factions just sit there never declaring war. It's so boring.

Got Boltgun on the steam sale and cannot recommend it enough. Even if you don't give a shit about 40k (although you're lame if you don't) it's an excellent boomer shooter.

Playing some TNO america. It's fun but holy shit if you don't wrap up the proxies in a reasonable timeframe, you'll find yourself fighting like 4 different wars at the same time.

I've been playing Tales of Arise. It's so-so. While I feel the gameplay is a slight improvement over Tales of Berseria, the story is not as good. Velvet was a much better protagonist than Alphen.

I played the first hour of Guardians of the Galaxy. It's nicely polished, good dialogue and voice acting. I probably won't finish it though, it's not my kind of game.

Pirated AC 6 to try it out, I missed the sale.

My pirated version is ver 1.00, and my god Balteus is a complete bastard back then.

Hopefully there will be a Spring sale.

Other than that, PoE. Still have no idea where the King of mist stronghold is supposed to be.

Discovered Book of Hours came out, so I've been playing that. Pretty chill stuff though it's still so confusing for me. Also been playing stellaris, which is always a mistake. I enjoy it a lot, but it always feels over long before it's actually over.

Got Guardians of the Galaxy from EGS.

It's ok for a capeshit AAA goyslop. I never feel challenged and the game feels dull and butonmashy, so eh.

Cave Blazers is still amazing.

Symphony of the Night. Ever played a game that completely envelops you? Yeah, it's one of those. :marseyshook: :likeaboss:

It's rare for a game to feel magical like when I was a kid but this is it :marseyembrace:

I'm thinking of getting back into Empire At War since the total conversion mods are so good and have come even further then when I played in the mid 2010's. :marseyastronaut:

And in general I'm happy to get emudeck so I can play my boomer games :marseyboomer:

Kingsvein coming out in like 3 days. Same guy who made voidspire and the other tactics games. New one in his series is the grimdark archtype. The 4 are basically:

Straight rpg adventure

Roguelite inside giant monster

Openworld with open sea

Grimdark mega castle spelunk

All Tactics grid based rpgs like ogre/fft

Also Mario Wonder, only played 3 levels but it's already great. The world is strange though. There's lines of sequential levels but then they randomly lead to open areas like in Mario 3d world? Weird compared to older ones but it's cool just play any level you want in any order.

Played through the early access portion of gloomwood. That was a lot of fun. Excited for the full game to come out in ten years

Now im trying to play through the thief series. Just got through the bonehoard mission in the first game. That sucked. Game is way better when you are not constantly being chased by zomboids and dying from falling off ledges and ropes and ladders
