A bunch of SanFran Wokesoy fricks made the new reboot protags into the most mild unganglike losers ever to feature in any crime-drama media ever created. It was like the fricking directors didn't comprehend the Saints, didn't understand the themes, didn't realize the Saints still are the badguys even if they are the protagonists, and probably literally didn't even play a singe Saints game before undertaking the R*PE 
of the franchise.
The story was insipid, the uni strags were losers, and the villains as shallow as wet pavement

between oldguard and newstrags about the quality of the game, which made the Starfield fights seem tame.

Anyways the devs screwed up before anyways when they created a game called Agents of Mayham.
A game which I literally didn't know came out, and was even in the SR franchise, until fricking ZP reviewed it, it literally flew under the radar 
because it sucked. It literally didn't even have the zany customization of the previous games 
So the company probably was gonna be shitcanned if their second game bricked

Saints Row was always kind of an irreverent and janky series but in a good way. Idk about the latter ones though as I didn't play any of them past 2.

2 is San Andreas but with more zany
3 is 2 but with less character customisation and more zany
4 is 3 but with less GTA, more Prototype, and more zany
Gat out of Heck is 4 but the links to reality are getting really very thin
The story continues from SR1 to GooH, but Agents of Mayhem and 5 are both reboots
No one has played SR1 tho
