It's amazing how they managed to create something so perfectly tuned to be completely unappealing.

The character designs look like a cross between corporate Memphis art, dollar store knockoff Chinese action figures and the randomly picked wardrobes of Sims 4 townies.

And that's before you consider they're entering an already well established genre with a paid product when the main competitors are all free to play.

Is the $300m price tag is accurate?

300m is on the high side. The official numbers aren't out but it's assumed Firewalk(the company who made the game) was bough for around 100-150 million based on size and how Sony was aggressive with buying studios. Then add a year or more of extra development and you get 200-300 million.

They saw this shit and thought, yeah that's going to sell as much as Red Dead Redemption 2.
