Not really, because that seems to be about someone leaving their insular culture, and reinforcing that they have a disability rather than a culture. Though with ASL, deaf people have more of a claim to having a culture because they do have their own language, and therefore specific method of communicating. But that's another topic.

I can buy that. Elder Scrolls certainly has zero historical connection to earth. The games could have happened a 1000 years ago, a billion years ago, or 5 minutes ago. It's timeless because it isn't here.

Skyrim has giants everywhere and an jarl who hates giants sells you a patch of land in the middle of giant country so they'll routinely attack you. The reason I always side with the emperor is that the imperial jarls are all so much more likable than the stormcloak jarls. Nah, it's technically dark fantasy. This is r-slurred, but the scarring would make sense in the setting. People still have big scars and wounds and injuries. Medicine is less advanced than 2020s California for most people. And magic attracts possession by demons. If anything you could argue this is a realistic medieval torture/shaming they used on women. I think this would be neat if it was a weird afterthought on a highly highly advanced character creator where you could cut off limbs and stuff.

I don't think C-suite types are looking over these games. You have artists adding some things without getting higher up approval. A lot of artists are political and feel the need to be pushy and public about it. There are also some people who are incapable of separating themselves from the character so they don't want to play games that don't have a character that's them or how they want to see themselves. They try to go after that market or reduce the complaints.
From personal experience, the ones who can't play as other races and whine about representation have severe identity issues and are genuinely racist.

Yeah IDK why you'd think these people have an in depth knowledge about the game an its systems and mechanics, they mostly care about bigger picture. You can't supervise and focus group microtweak a big, RPG game quite like a 100 minute Marvel movie anyway.
See Concord as an example, maybe the characters and pronounshit was presented to upper executives, but they'd probably just roll their eyes and think "if that's what our audience wants..". All that mattered was that Concord was supposed to be a fresh take on a popular and very lucrative genre that might take away players from existing games and maybe attract new ones.
