I am curious if a Switch 2 emulator will get off the ground.

Of course it will, playing on an actual switch is awful

$80 games is crazy.

Way better off gaming on PC. Epic gives away a free game every week. Amazon Prime Gaming gives away free games every month. Steam has sales all the time. And there are lots of great games out there made by smaller teams that are way cheaper. Most AAA titles are pretty garbage these days, I wouldn't dream of paying anywhere near that much.

none of that means a fricking thing to the primary demographic of the switch: women :marseyfoidretard: and children. :marseycrayoneater:

For the Switch, yeah. But if Nintendo starts charging $80 for games you can bet Xbox and PS5 will be charging the same, if they aren't already. You'll probably see very similar prices for new AAA titles on PC too, but at least with a PC you've got other options like I mentioned above.

>Way better off gaming on PC.

PC g*mers can probably make up the difference in cost between consoles and gaming PCs within a few years. There's free games and sites to buy new games with 20%+ discounts. I occasionally buy games for PS5 when the PC version looks suspect optimazation-wise. Nintendo, however, gives little incentive to buy third party games. I was going through the eShop yesterday and those prices turned me off completely.

Yeah most games don't require that fancy of a PC to run and at $80 per console game it really wouldn't take much time at all to make up the cost difference.

I'm not a poorcel so I don't really care either way, but in what way am I wrong?

They sell you the console for about $500 and now the games are going to $80. You don't have to buy many games at that price until you've broken $1,000.

Price out a PC that can play modern $60-$70 games, and compare it to a $500 console with $80 games.

Jump in the discussion.

Note that I didn't suggest you could get a gaming PC for less than a $500 console. I suggested that the gaming PC was an overall better value. Most people need a computer anyway and a gaming PC doesn't require that much more of an investment.

I found this one right away on Amazon:

https://i.rdrama.net/images/17436255888vwDwCHrmB9NmA.webp

That PC will play Assassin's Creed We Wuz Kangs, which is currently $70 on Steam which should meet your above criteria.

A PC just seems like an overall better value in my opinion when you consider the many game deals / freebies and the additional things you can do with a PC that you can't with a console.

>i5 and an 8gb 4060 for $900

Cmon dude :marseyxd: there's absolutely no way you're playing a modern game with less than 16gb of VRAM. My 10GB 3080 routinely crashes playing Black Myth, and that's been pretty optimized.

Even then, you'd have to buy 40 games to make up the price difference.

Jump in the discussion.

It literally meets the specs to play the game.

And what's your math on the 40 games? A $500 console vs that $900 PC is a price difference of $400. At $80 per game you'll hit that in 5 games when you could be getting great games for free every week on PC.

And even if you're wanting new release games they go on sale on PC way faster than on console.

It's basically the GPUs being so expensive and hard to get.

Everything else's is pretty affordable nowadays.

An i9 and a cooler costs as much as a console.

I think you can make a pretty reasonable PC for $800-$1,000. That'd be assuming reasonable GPU prices though.

I wouldn't buy i9 or Intel in general for gaming though. AMD still is better value.

I think the branding is "ultra" now for Intel.

I bought a $1400 gaming laptop in 2021 that plays most new games without issue. Space Marine 2 ran perfectly fine. Add in all the games that one can get at a discount, free, or just pirated, and the difference in cost is not that crazy.

Nintendo are the only ones who can get away with it (for now) by having an IP that people actually like and not competing with past iterations of their own products like companies have to do now on steam when they release the same game with less features ala Civ 8 vs Civ 7

Jump in the discussion.

Yeah, that's the thing - people only get a few Nintendo games, but the ones they get are actually worth playing and actually get played

PC g*mers have like a hundred games, and maybe half of them were free but they still only play New Vegas

until you can get mario and zelda games on steam, PC won't be way better.

Only the new Mario Kart, other games shown were $70 which isn't much better but still.

I get the new Mario Kart is rumored to be the most expensive nintendo game ever made, but still $80 is absurd.

Still will be getting it cause it looks sick as frick

This title actually has like 30 characters with like 10 costumes each, an entire map to explore inbetween courses, 24 player online races, and a proper elimination mode, so they actually have put a shit ton of effort into it all things considered.

Hopefully they can finally top the peak that was Wii for the franchise

Lmao some of the comments are blaming Zlumpf and his tariffs...even though it costs the same in Eurocuck. Are there even any tariffs that would make switch and mario kart cost this fricking much anyways?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Most of the tariffs haven't even taken effect yet. There's no way that there are even affecting this because Vietnam doesn't even have tariffs on the United States and they make them in Vietnam.

Idk but they probably didn't announce the price during the Direct so that when LIBERATION commences, they can raise it to 500$ and mention them

I'll wait for the price drop

People bought a Switch to replace their Wii. They didn't skip the Wii U because it was "bad" or because it was "confusing," they skipped it because casual g*mers and/or non-fans don't need a new Nintendo console that often.

The core fanbase will buy it, just like they did the Wii U. Everyone else will not. The sales will be disappointing. They'll eventually rehabilitate it into a decent product.

There still won't be a Netflix app.
