With The Sims 4, some custom content (cc) creators started paywalling their content in hopes of making a career out of modding. However, some of their content is shitty, stolen, or badly optimized. If its stolen its usually stolen from Second Life.

For the longest time, EA was alright with creators making their content "early access". If people wanted to pay 10 dollars a month to get shitty CC 3 weeks early, EA was fine with that. As long as the content was eventually made free to the public, they didn't care.

But as creators became more emboldened, they slowly started releasing the content 3 or 6 months later, and then never releasing it to the public at all. A group of disgruntled players would basically subscribe to their patreons and reupload their content fo piracy sites for other players.

This upset one ring of Sims 4 CC creators. They started tracking every single download and kept notes of patrons who reuploaded their content. They would pass this list among each other. with the suspected pirate's name and email. Eventually one member of the group would leak this. If you want to read more, there is this post and this post

Anyway with this new announcement by EA, some of the modders and their finsubs are upset.

I don't care about y'all but I feel this new policy is extremely racist because the main consumer of CC are those of color. The CC made by these dope butt creators of help keep that darn game relevant. Cuz let's be real they are the main ones that make it so we can vibe how we vibe in our games. Without their content people are going to have to rely on them ashy butt hairs and skin tones and ugly butt maxis clothes.

Instead of EA trying to regulate what modders do, they should be shaking their hands and thanking them for keeping the game alive.

I mean, some people dedicate full time to making mods, so it’s likely their main source of income. I don’t think there’s any harm in paying for early access, but I do feel people should make them free after so long. I just hope modders don’t go on strike because of this.

If you were good enough at using Blender and wanted to make a career out of it, you would not be selling shitty Sims 4 mods.

EA has no right to tell people what to do on websites EA doesnt own. EA also doesnt own player created custom content. EA wont act on any CC they object to. They never have. They allowed burning babies in sims ffs! Its just virtue signaling

I doubt you study either so dont pretend. Unlike you I consider more than just the TOS. First you have to prove that the content creator actually agreed to the TOS before you can accuse them of violating it.

Also I forgot to mention but the adult mods for the sims are apparently up in limbo after EA was alerted that someone made beastality and child s*x mods for the Sims 4. There is also more drama about the adult mod community. One wanted to create regular s*x mods and was upset another creator was using his code to insert child s*x animations/relationships and beastality. Gonna keep this short. Reasons why:

1. HFW had a good main character

2. HFW had a better storyline. ) Storyline is non existent in elden ring)

3. HFW had way better cutscenes

4. HFW had far more livelier gameplay and you could feel it all with haptic feedback

5. HFW set up the threads for a sequal unlike elden ring.

6. HFW is very user friendly. @dont_log_me_out can play it with my mom or sister. @dont_log_me_out cannot play HFW with anyone else in my family

7. HFW has a more diverse and realistic caste of characters

8. HFW has more diverse and interesting terrains.

9. HFW has more interesting and diverse enemies

10. HFW has got far better swimming and archery mechanics.

Elden Ring doesn't deserve half as much hype as Horizon Forbidden west.

Elden Ring is only liked because it is a game made by a hikikomari for other hikikomaris.

Bright memory: Infinite. Seems to run better and have more active environments than 99% of the games out there. Only downside I feel is that the main character looks too plastic. However, that might actually be due to the amount of surgeries that occur in South Korea. So any model they get would actually look like that.

Anyways, does anyone else feel like video game graphics have hit a wall. Like the only game in recent memory that made me go woah about the graphics were Metro Exodus and the last of us part 2. Every other studio seems to be stuck in place unable to figure out the necessary algorithms to get something even more cooler looking out of the system.

Also feel bad for naughty dog for making such a beautiful game with such a dog shit story.

Anyways, I am not impressed with how far graphics have come in recent years. They need to scale up actual games to keep up with the quality of unreal engine 5 demos before I feel interested.

Warhammer 3 looks good though.

If I were to compare today's game graphics against tech demos from the past, I think we are at 2016's tech demo levels of game graphics as of now.

Mods troll people in strange ways. The chadmins nerfed Thieving loot tables at stalls for some reason, making Farming nigh impossible to train. Basically the hats scenario here all over again.

People sneeding about some dumb shit so they started a riot in Lumbridge. Think swastika campfires. Only these dumbasses didn't schedule a time so fricking no one showed up LOL.

Mods moved a table a few tiles over in Lumbridge basement so I got stuck and a mod had to teleport me out. People posted pics of me haha.

It seems like the only decent trackers are private. I am dubious of most google drives and public torrent sites.

Really looking forward to this one. I haven't played very much of the Nioh series - the extent of my experience is clearing the first island and starting on the second in the first game - but what I have played, I've adored. That series combat is good enough to rival From Softs, and that's not common within the Souls-like niche.

The article is worth a read given how ridiculous the premise is. For those that don't want to read it, the author argues that depicting fishing and animal goods speaks to how players are desensitized to animal violence and help mask violence against animals involved in the production of animal goods. Here's an insightful paragraph from the article:

As a thought experiment, imagine Animal Crossing involves a game where you hook not fish with worm bait, plucking them from their waters, but instead you're required to catch cats--with hooks and all--by coercing them into a trap like fish. Could you imagine such a game earning a spotlight in next year's Wholesome Direct? I think the obvious answer is no. But games with fishing mechanics are one of the most prevalent types showcased every time the brand takes the virtual stage. They both feel pain, so why does harm to fish still pass as wholesome?

I don’t usually agree with Gamespot on anything, but I agree with them on this.

I get tired of games that are so casual about violence, especially against animals. I’ve stopped playing a couple because of it. It just gets old and it takes me out of enjoying what I like about the game. In AC Origins I almost stopped playing until I realized I could get upgrade materials from shops once I unlocked the skill for it.

It’s not a big deal for most people and I get it, but as someone who’s had to hunt and slaughter things before, I’d rather not have those things come to my mind when playing a game.

Actually a decent take. This person has actual experience with killing animals and, even then, they acknowledge that other people may feel differently about the subject. It's sitting at -9 votes at the time of writing.

They claim it could shut down by the end of summer. The worst of it all is this: there will be no license transfer of any sort. This means any game that was bought on Stadia will be gone for good when the services go down. There is some good news though.
