Thanks for the advice king, but these little rascals also leave cat litter on the floor each morning, and I don't think a Roomba could pick all of that up. I'd be angry if they weren't so adorable.

It does an acceptable enough job with litter. Obviously not perfect but reduces my manual sweeping from daily to weekly. Could set a schedule specifically to clean the litter area every day.
Be careful about online deals though, Roomba offers a variant that runs on subscription (something like $30/month but bags and brushes are included), people will purchase one month then sell the unit for full price. If it has an X in the serial, avoid it.
If I were a dishonest man, I would get one month of the service to get the included $250 self-emptying base, then cancel the service and keep the empty base and use the bricked unit as spare parts.

The mean/lazy housekeeper thing is what happens when you hire a housekeeper with too little to lose. Where I grew up everyone had sweet Central American ladies, all of whom were first-gen immigrants, cleaning their houses. Strong immigrant work ethic + a family to support + understanding that a good job with a rich family can last decades and have crazy benefits = the cleanest house ever at all times.
Tbh though in this case it sounds like the housekeeper did a good job. She doesn't work for you and your spawn, she works for your husband's boss. If you're creating way way more mess than she usually has to deal with when civilized people live there, I can see why she'd b-word to boss man about it.

A couple of us were invited to stay at the company lodge for a few months. There was a solar project in the backyard that a coworker was going to be working on, so we invited him one Sunday to check it out, get a feel of the scope ahead of time.
Mind you, this is bumfrick Kansas and you have to drive down unmaintained gravel roads to reach it.
He's barely down the driveway before the lawnkeeper notified the housekeeper who notified the house manager who notified the project manager who then called the foreman to ask why we have an uninvited guest -- another employee who was going to be staying in that house the following week.
The foreman left and went to a hotel after that. We already didn't feel very welcome in that place and this made it worse.
