I know this isn't a voice posting thread but I found this funny (https://www.pollbludger.net/2023/07/25/polls-essential-research-wa-voice-results-ukraine-support-open-thread/)

The West Australian today brings further results from the Utting Research poll that credited the state Liberals with a 54-46 lead, finding 58% planning to vote no on the Indigenous Voice compared with 29% for yes and 13% undecided.

Only 29% yes. Yikes

The poll further records 54% saying the state’s Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act had made them less likely to vote for the Voice

Turns out councils being extorted 2.5 million dollars by abos to plant some trees might piss a few people off:marseysmirk:

It's amazing that forcing homeowners to pay a bribe to the local abo corporation before they can lay a driveway on their own land just might cause some resentment.

Holy shit with those sorts of numbers I was expecting Utting Research to be one of those ultra chud polling agencies that show up and say anything, but they seem to be relatively balanced and reasonable.

Could be an outlier but if true then the Voice might just be the catalyst of the chuddening of Australia. The comments on that article are funny though

>Could be an outlier but if true then the Voice might just be the catalyst of the chuddening of Australia.

That law is some bullshit though. Any farmer (or person with acreage) wanting to build a dam, dig any deeper than 12m, build a fence, do any land clearing for bush fire prevention, etc has to pay for an indigenous person to come out and make sure its not a 'sacred site' and also pay a permit for the works(price set by the indigenous elders). It's just funny how it's coincided with the referendum and has subsequently chudded an entire state :marseyderp:

Jump in the discussion.

The best bit about that law is that chuds pretty much have free licence to make shit up from here till referendum day because reality has finally caught up to Facebook comment sections

Don't they use 'Knowledge Holder' as a term but there is no criteria for what constitutes that? So it just defaults to literally any sufficiently old / loud Indigenous person?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Not exactly.

Who qualifies as a knowledge holder is getting delegated to the various Aboriginal land corporations but none of thats been done yet. Hence the confusion.

Also, the prices they can charge per hour and for what kind of work have been set by the government, but it isn't capped, which makes sense at face value, but the whole thing is insane and was a serious reminder for everyone how out of touch the political class is.

Unfortunately, while the Liberals would likely overturn this legislation if they come to power, they are completely r-slurred and controlled by religious nut jobs and libertarian quacks.

58/29/13 could be referring to the WA state Libs, not WA proper. Still I'd imagine WA to go No.

Lately I've been thinking that Melbourne is the only reason the No vote won't win 2:1. Good chance it gets at least 60/40, with 65/35 at the outer reaches of probability.

At this point I think Vic might be the only Yes state outright. I've seen sentiments shift a lot in NSW over the past few months

Jump in the discussion.

Resolve has been giving Tassie as slightly more Yes than Vic for a couple polls now. I think Vic is less a given than people think.

It'd be hilarious if Tas was the only Yes state and it was the reverse of the red mainland map.

I don't think they're reliable tbh.

I can't see any polling done them for either the last State or Federal elections. If this was Newspoll, Roy Morgan, or Resolve I'd give it some weight, if it was Essential I would side eye it, but without being able to compare how close their previous polling has been to actual election results its not worth the pixels illuminating my greasy unshaven face.

Jump in the discussion.

redditors are saying they likely polled mostly-boomers, which I'm inclined to agree with.

While I don't doubt No is stomping in WA, given the heritage kerfuffle, 58/29/13 is too steep imo. Hence why I thought it might have been referring to the opinions of WA State Libs.

I would round down to No beating Yes in WA by 55-45, or 60-40, or something in-between. Assume the gap is widening each month, especially if on the lower end (55-45), given the ongoing controversies.

So, answer me this. If it's ok to have "indigenous people" benefits and extra rules, why are indigenous French, Germans, Swedes, Brits and so on not allowed to have the same in their country :marseythinkorino:

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

The term "indigenous people" has a specific meaning in the academic and political context which doesn't actually correspond to the common understanding of the word "indigenous". That's why it's such a good bait-and-switch when used by wokeoids. Here's the UN definition:

It is estimated that there are more than 370 million indigenous people spread across 70 countries worldwide. Practicing unique traditions, they retain social, cultural, economic and political characteristics that are distinct from those of the dominant societies in which they live. Spread across the world from the Arctic to the South Pacific, they are the descendants - according to a common definition - of those who inhabited a country or a geographical region at the time when people of different cultures or ethnic origins arrived. The new arrivals later became dominant through conquest, occupation, settlement or other means.

So the groups you just listed (French, Germans, etc...) are indigenous to their countries but they are not "indigenous people" since they are the dominant groups there.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

So white english in London would fit that definition

Jump in the discussion.

Hilariously groups like Crimean Tatars get classified as 'indigenous' under the UN definition despite no longer living their traditional raping, pillaging, and slaving lifestyle.

Academia is phucked, and it has the side effect of making normies less comfortable with learning and education.

If normies associate learning with being a compromised woketard, they're just gonna list more to anti-intellectualism than they already were. Wokeoids aren't 'educating the populace', they're doing the opposite.
