So there's about a 1/20 complication rate from laser eye surgery, which is a lot worse than I thought. When it goes great, it's amazing, but for the unlucky few who get serious side effects, it apparently can get so bad you can turn suicidal.

Anyway, don't do this shit until you're ok with being the percentage it seems to seriously frick over for life.
Edit: I realize now i've called it lasik and lasek interchangeably and without any differentiation when i should have said “all laser eye surgery”. Anyway, that sub is for anyone who got complications from any laser eye surgery, not just lasik. While I am disturbed by most dramacels I don't wish a lifetime of chronic eye issues on anyone here, so I would advise you to investigate what could happen to you if you're going to pursue it. If you're one of the unlucky few that ends up royally fricked, don't forget to post about it here so we can support/laugh at you.

One of my ex husbands got lasik and had complications. For some nerd reasons I can't remember it left all contacts out of the question and no rx glasses ever really worked well for him and he was left legally blind due to his nearsightedness.
I still laugh about it sometimes.

My mom had lasik when it was manual,
my dad, step-mom, and myself got it with comp-assist, and literally zero problems.
Lasik complications are like back-alley abortion issues tbh

Exactly. And don't go to the guy who gets a lot of business from influencers.
Also, to my gal pals and gay friends who want to look good, always go to the Real Self app and check out the doctors.

Realself.com is where all people go to check out reviews for plastic surgeons. If any dramacel has an account there, I'm certain you can find dramatic reviews for botched boobjobs, rhinoplasties, neovaginas and the like.

AFAIK it's the same laser it just differs in how they open the flap up. You can't do LASIK if your eye has any scratches etc.

By all means check success stats but I think you should hope for LASIK and that should be the standard one. After LASIK you go home, have a nap and wake up feeling fine with 20/20 vision.
After LASEK you spend 48 hours in pain in the dark and then it can take weeks or months to fully dial in. Maybe no driving for two weeks either depending on how lucky you are.

Yup, i got the crap shoot in the genetics with needing glasses. I have astigmatism as well, so i generally try to take care of my eyes partially cause I had wanted to do lasik.
Always carry small bag with extra glasses, saline and contact case and will swap the contacts out if my eyes feel weird.
