Is there a natural supplement that is like adderall? :marseycocaine: :marseycocaine: :marseycocaine:

I really want to avoid adderall if I can help it.

Some context: I actually managed to get an adderall prescription but I'm scared to take it :marseycry: I don't like taking medications, I don't even take stuff like Tylenol unless absolutely necessary. I need something though I feel like I can't keep up at work :marseysad:

Not sure if you have access to it but what you're looking for is Khat. It's a plant that can be chewed or brewed in a tea. It's sometimes used as a party drug here in South Africa because it is a stimulant with euphoric properties.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khat

Also, there's nothing to be afraid of with adderall, but I also don't recommend it. YMMV, but from my experience, it's only effective in keeping you up, and while it does help with factors like concentration and focus, it's a relatively mild effect that's not worth the insomnia that comes with it. If you genuinely, honestly have ADHD or some attention-deficit disorder that interferes with your daily functioning, ask your doctor for Modafinil. It is genuinely like the movie Limitless. You will feel like you have your entire mental capacity at your disposal, and you can singularly focus on a task for hours at peak concentration. It is hands-down the most powerful and effective nootropic I have ever had.

Best of luck!

I've never heard of either of these things, I'll look into them. Are there any side effects to modafinil? How long have you been taking it?

>Are there  any side effects to modafinil?

It made me grind my teeth :marseybong: when I took too much.

>How long have you been taking it?

I took it for about two months. I didn't renew my prescription because I'm certain I was misdiagnosed with ADHD. In reality, I was going :marseysal2: through a bipolar :marseyitsoverwereback: depressive :marseyhouse: episode. It helped me to still be functional during that time, but if I'm not in a depressive :marseyhouse: stupor, I actually :marseynerd3: have no problems concentrating and being productive. I mean, I spend hours writing :marseynotesglow: pages of longposts here and it's really :marseythinkorino2: not a problem :marseycanofworms: focusing on the task.

Modafinil has a fairly large biological half life so if you don't take it early enough you will not be able to get to sleep without another drug making you sleepy.

It also makes your piss stink of sulpher and if you take it several days in a row it'll start to make your sweat smell too.

Its magical though, its the only nootropic that actually works although I suspect that's because it makes your brain operate as if you have the perfect amount of sleep.

Depends on how much you take. I have a prescription for 10mg twice a day, but I only take one around 10am.

It's very important to get good sleep each night too because you don't want to be using it as a crutch to power through sleep deprivation. That's how your mind will get a lil :marseyseizure: over time.

Almost 10 years. I didn't take it for 2 years, and that wasn't a good idea. :marseyantiwork:

Do you feel like it's made you more cold/soulless? And what about the come down, do you get upset or angry?

Do you feel like it's made you more cold/soulless?

I was born soulless.

:#marseyvampirecrusader:

And what about the come down, do you get upset or angry?

No. Sometimes, a little tired, but it goes away after 30-60 minutes. My job is partly at the desk and partly walking the floor, so the physical activity probably counteracts it. During my more stationary job, I'd feel more tired, but it wasn't bad. :marseyshrug:

If I were to take 20mg at a time, my brain would be like this :marseyraging: but with a :marseyexcited: Marsey instead. It's too jittery, but 10mg is fine. 5mg is :marseyreluctant:.

Technically yes. I don't know if I actually have it tho

I was too. I used to be on Adderall as a teenager, but I quit taking it because it made me anorexic. (5'10" 110lbs) :marseyanorexia:

I was finally able to manage it through exercise, caffeine/B vitamins and an L-Tyrosine supplement.

I couldn't find the post I was talking about, but here's an article talking about the link between neurotransmitters and ADHD.

Exercise boosts Epinephrine, and L-Tyrosine is an amino acid precursor to Epinephrine and Dopamine.

For me, the drugs didn't even help very much. They just made me jittery, irritable, and killed my appetite.

They even tried putting me on Strattera, which is a non-stimulant, but it didn't help and also gave me ED.

What ended up helping me was reading a doctor's blog, where he described ADD/ADHD as a "dopamine deficiency" and recommended diet/lifestyle changes/supplements to help manage it. I'll see if I can find it.

I don't like the long term side effects. And I know a few people on adderall and they get kind of annoying on it, especially when it wears off, they can get rude/annoyed. I don't want to be that way. And I've talked to several people who said adderall made them feel souless.

I dunno. It depends on how much a dose affects you. I don't take mine everyday, especially not on weekends. People who are overprescribed tend to get like what you're talking about. I think it's wild to have a 20mg prescription and insane for 40mg twice per day and up.

I've tried many different things, but nothing OTC is like adderall (or other prescription stimulant like Modafinil). I haven't found anything that gives the same effect.

Closest I'd say is coffee. Not caffeine, but coffee.

Adderall will make you feel euphoric AND energized where anything OTC like caffeine or nicotine will give you energy, but make you feel bad/anxious. On Adderall, you feel confident in yourself and ready to take on any challenge. At work, when something in PROD breaks, instead of thinking "oh shit idk what to do fuuuuuuuck", im more like, "heck yeah, idk how to fix it but im ready and I'll be able to learn and figure it out."

Its your choice though. ~2 years on it and I definitely dont feel that same level of euphoria as I did at first, but thats because my tolerance has increased. They also make Adderall XR (extended release) that gives you a half dose when you take it and the rest of the dose a few hours later. It comes on a little slower.

Just be aware that its easy to abuse Adderall. If you do decide to, dont take it everyday (skip weekends at the very least).

What's the difference between coffee and caffine? I can drink half a cup of coffee and feel something, but I could snort a gram of caffeine and nothing.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Honestly I'm not sure. Ive tried to figure out what it is but no luck yet. Theres definitely something else in coffee that interacts with the caffeine. Ive taken caffeine pills (200mg) and a cup of coffee (100mg caffeine) gave me much better energy and mood.
