Nah. It can mean that. But if you're fired for wearing a green shirt that's probably going to be a fired without cause unemployment claim. Then unemployment premiums (taxes? whatever you want to call it) go up for the company. If you fire someone for being late that's with cause then there's no valid unemployment claim but it also heads off any potential wrongful dismissal claim.

You can be terminated for any reason at any time. There's no need to justify the termination or give you any advanced notice.

Probably was creating a toxic work environment. I've been through this before. HR will do everything in their power to not fire a person because of that because it can be a he said she said situation and they're afraid they'll sue for wrongful term. So, they will look for any technicality, performance, late in/out, safety, to fire them. Just judging by how he thinks the boss has it out for him and "didn't see eye to eye" that's code for he was being a peepee.

fr, the guy must really suck, be hard to work with, or persistently does the bare minimum. I show up consistently late to work and spend much of my time there shit posting. I dont get fired bc I get the job done, and other people cant/wont do what I can. Just be irreplaceable, its not hard.

You'd have to be dumb easy to replace to get canned for one minute of tardiness. The paperwork behind firing, interviewing, and hiring a replacement means that unless they're getting enough applicants to fill your role 10x over, a manager is gonna hesitate to axe you for something stupid.
