Nah. It can mean that. But if you're fired for wearing a green shirt that's probably going to be a fired without cause unemployment claim. Then unemployment premiums (taxes? whatever you want to call it) go up for the company. If you fire someone for being late that's with cause then there's no valid unemployment claim but it also heads off any potential wrongful dismissal claim.

You can be terminated for any reason at any time. There's no need to justify the termination or give you any advanced notice.

Probably was creating a toxic work environment. I've been through this before. HR will do everything in their power to not fire a person because of that because it can be a he said she said situation and they're afraid they'll sue for wrongful term. So, they will look for any technicality, performance, late in/out, safety, to fire them.
