They did the exact same thing at my school. No actually banned books are ever shown because that would be controversial/hard. Books banned for import are never shown, works like Lolita are never shown, books banned for "inciting hate" are never shown.
It's always popular books that got "banned" by some backwoods library in dumbfrick nowhere 20 years ago.
I mean look at this shit
Banned by 1 place in the fricking 80s.
This one wasn't even banned, just criticized
But redditor suck them off for hashtag resisting by pushing the exact same books they push all year round.

I once asked a banned books libtard if kids should be able to read the Turner Diaries and they said no

!bookworms, I've mentioned this before, but if any of these whiny little straggots walked the walk, they'd be arguing in favor of allowing bomb-making manuals in stores and libraries.

agreed it's a minefield of hypocrisy if that's what your getting at
I once did a report/verbal presentation in middleschool or 9th grade or something about visiting stormfront and trying to talk to people in their chatrooms but it was just a bunch of racist cute twinks endlessly telling BIPOC jokes with no point
it's good to talk about this stuff though instead of pushing it under the carpet?
Trying to keep turner diaries or anarkiddys cookbook suppressed only roundabout increases their infamy in most senses but I don't know where to draw the moral line with kids libraries, other than that banning harry potter was r-slurred af.

I'm actually fully in favor of removing Harry Potter from school libraries. Not because it's immoral or anything, but because children that read it seem to become physically and psychologically incapable of reading any non-YA book, no matter how old they get or how much time passes.
It's the same reason I'd like to ban the production, sale, and distribution of starshit and capeshit. Kids need to grow up and watch !kino, not endless spin-offs of children's media.

They are good books unironically, if not lacking in real substance, but this is typical for any series of books that extends beyond just one or two books. The fact that it managed to stay above water for 7 books is always a feat imo, but I definitely agree with literally reading another frickin book. Given the volume of wandshit books sold versus the volume of actual wandshit fans, the majority are not like you say, thus we should not limit access because it's a gateway drug to reading other books.

the books normalizing trans or gay shit are pretty tame compared to the internet at large if we're being honest and don't even compare with degenerate pornshit imo
like in the real world too there's a world of difference though when kids stumbling on pornographic material versus an adult exposing themselves to children or things that are much much worse, in any event I don't like the blanket whining of people equating the gay or
books with hardcore porn because the alternative is to ban everything and I don't think censoring shit is going to solve the problem of adults pushing sexual shit on kids, the solution exists in the home first followed by common sense permissions involving parents or something maybe I dont know

Not enough room in middle school for both

There's an entire concept of marketing called Pity Marketing that's literally just this. You basically just cry and make shit up in front of a camera and people drink it up.
Those two blind turbo cute twinks on TikTok are famous for this.

when i was in middle school i had a cool english teacher who had a ton of the more transgressive banned books in her library, I remember reading the chocolate war and go ask alice- she asked me if i was okay with what i read and if i had any questions but never told my parents and never stopped me from reading them. I loved that teacher so much

There's an old saying in Lenin β I know it's in Marx, probably in Lenin β that says, there are decades where nothing β where nothing happens; and there are weeks β nothing ever happens again.

This selection is clearly aimed at young kids but yeah, they always choose the dumbest examples. My library in college even had 50 Shades of Grey in their "banned book" display. No shit it's banned from school libraries. It's literal porn.
They could easily pick stuff like All Quiet on the Western Front but that wouldn't appeal to girls. It was banned in Germany for being "anti-german" and the author and his family had to flee the country. His sister was caught and executed over it. Poland also banned the book for being "pro-German" because they're r-slurred.
