I saw someone (forget where) remark that he's trying to Debate Team his way to the top of American politics. It really sums him up. That post where he attacked a pro-Ukraine Ukrainian immigrant is a perfect example. Vance is posting pure sophistry. He's whining about being offended, making arcane arguments about civic obligation, trying to enforce rightoid expectations of public debate, etc. etc. It's all very rightoid-Redditor coded. By contrast, the Ukrainian's message is dead simple: it's unfair that Russians are bombing my home, please stick up for it.
The Ukrainian doesn't care about a fancy mental model of the situation. He is asking a powerful person to solve a serious problem. But Vance's reaction is only to bicker with words, because it's the only trick he knows. Vance often gets angriest when he is dragged out of the debate team bubble. The AI people call these people "wordcels." They only have verbal talents, and they resent being reminded that there are other competencies which society generally prefers.

You're right, to a point.
Like yeah Vance is an empty suit, but the cry tours of Zelensky after they launch two or three offensives to capture Kursk was r-slurred. And that was done for political reasons. Why doesn't the US declare war on Russia unless Russia withdraws from Ukraine? Because Russia has nuclear weapons.
AI people are mad about words and shit, but I'd rather Ukraine sue for peace as the loser than continue the war then sue for peace with another few hundred thousand dead AND they're still the loser.
Trump to his credit is trying to stop bloodshed, and if that means Zelensky has to bruise his ego then so be it. Ukraine resists Russia at strictly American convenience, and going in and not playing ball is r-slurred. Like Zelensky won't get what he wants, and frankly if Ukraine had elections I'm not sure he'd even be there.

The US doesn't need to do that. We have been having proxy wars with the USSR for 80 years. Daddy had a fun little one in Syria where the US utterly r*ped the Russians.
This is ultimately Putin telling daddy that if he dares to oppose them in Ukraine there will be nuclear war. Daddy, being not very smart and super easy to manipulate, fell for it. The US continuing to drop to be decommissioned weapons stocks in to Ukraine isn't an escalation. The US continuing to maintain the sanctions against Russia isn't an escalation. Trump admin has banned Ukraine from even purchasing weapons from the US, they haven't approved any export licenses since the Trump regime came to power.
My hope of escalation here is that the rest of NATO starts sanctioning Trump & Vance, bongs seizing his bong hotels & golf courses would be very very good for $DRAMA.
