While true, Erdogan and his state media started to feel a little too comfortable talking about restoring the Ottoman Empire. We belonged to the Ottoman Empire, America doesn't seem like it's particularly enthusiastic about defending us right now, and neither we nor Bulgaria, our 'shield' against Turkey, can actually defend ourselves. Erdogan was already starting to become a problem

That's for nationalist reasons and to gain the support of Pakis and other turd world Muslims who are desperate for a Muslim superpower again. The Ottoman Empire ain't coming back, the last thing Turks want is to be drafted into a massive conflict in Europe of all places when their economy is in shambles like it is currently.
