Why was there even an investigation? Why would there have been charges? What kind of person thought that?

TBH I'm still not sure how legal pump and dump schemes are w/r/t to crypto.

If it's legal for influencers to do it with tangible goods I dont really see why it's more illegal to do it with r-slurred virtual ones tbh

This but unironically. PokΓ©mon cards are inflated to the moon and scammers steal and reseal packs to defraud buyers. Nobody cares because it's dumb trading cards. "Spit on a peepee to lube it up for a blowjob" "coin" is just as serious an "investment."

At least a shitcoin blatantly has no value so anyone getting in on it knows its pure gambling

SEC has vast power to regulate securities, and if you want to sell them in the U.S., you need to jump through a bunch of hoops. It's long been an open question as to what, if any cryptocurrencies fall under their purview. They investigated, determined that HawkTuahCoin was not, and so closed the investigation.

Yeah I get that, but presumably this isn't the first cryptocurrency they've ever seen and they're all exactly the same. What new novel thing did they expect to find that required my tax dollars to be spent on "investigating" it

No idea, and there are cryptos that should be regulated as a security. For instance, if I offer you a stablecoin tied to the value of a company's stock, that's a security

because it's a societal detractor to greatly reward people who do not actually produce economic benefit? the thing was entirely a pump-n-dump gambling scheme.

The world would be a better place if being a useless leech was a criminal act but alas

i mean that is what the SEC is tryin to do.

it's of course hopelessly r-slurred to make capitalism fair,

but they at least put some pressure on outright trying to go for the low hanging fruit of security scams like a pure pump-n-dump

Should we really give a shit about memecoin rugpulls though? Feels like there's more pressing fraud with better victims out there.

do u really want buttholes getting rich doing that,

and then disproportionately directing the resources of others towards their r-slurred existence???

I mean, it punishes acute r-sluration in favor of slightly less acute r-sluration.

It's not even like the neighbors getting ripped off here have any logical ground to stand on. They literally acknowledge that they've been victims of crypto rugpulls and then will do it again.

it really is better to have a small amount of money being spent by a lot of r-slurs... and a lot of being spent by a few

as apposed to going towards the even more r-slurred existences of the donors?
