Voodoo and hoodoo are apparently two different things. Voodoo is supposedly common around the Mississippi and Louisiana area while hoodoo is the general South.
I have no idea how theyโre actually different or if theyโre even real.

In Haiti itโs spelled vodou or something since theyโre frog speakers. Voodoo is from NOLA to the Delta and then some, though there are apparently some connections since Port-au-Prince and New Orleans used to be connected under the French and a lot of migrants and refugees and slaves that moved to New Orleans after the revolution in Haiti.
Hoodoo is general South though Iโm not sure if itโs a religion, โwitchcraftโ or even African derived since a lot of it just general superstition similar to or seemingly from Christian culture, doesnโt help that many academics and/or white foids like to attribute anything interesting about Christian religion, superstition or folktales to paganism or witchcraft (ie Christmas trees, the Evil Eye, Shrove Tuesday, alchemy/astrology, Celtic crosses, etc.). Thereโs also many mayo and Injun practitioners in the South who do similar things so it makes African origin/witchcraft even less likely.
