As you see the blue zone doesn't have any high rise building or much building since it's a park and since Russian holding high rise buildings from left and right of that park Ukrainian just won't be able to hold it. So for Russian it would be easier to control that zone than for Ukrainian

I think if it succeeds it'll be largest geoengineering project in human history? Can't think of anything of this scale, Chinese have obviously dug their grand canals in the past but those were for communications more than water management. Unlikely to be extended till Xinjiang IMO, that'd require massive amounts of water lifting for minimal returns from agriculture in hostile territory. But still, even if they dig 3000 km of that. They're basically constructing a river where none existed.
