At times like this it's important to remember that none of this is OK, none of this is normal. Of 45 valid presidents, 4 have been successfully assassinated. That's 1 one in ten death rate, a worse mortality rate than AIDS.
Before you go to the polls, think about whether you want to enable this. Every president since Reagan has had an assassination attempt and people have DIED, just today two more dead from the barbaric spectacle known as campaign rallies.
Do you want to enable stochastic violence? Do you think death and destruction is ok? Maybe instead of perpetuating the cycle you could go to a local indigenous yarning circle and listen to some elders for a change.
Be careful about what you support, and demand better from those schizos who take the world soul on themselves.

This is from a subreddit designed to be a safe space for Black applicants to talk about going to law school. Ostensibly, it was formed because they were tired about hearing the truth about how much being serves as a boost for admissions purposes. Give you a hint, it's a ton.
The subject of our story today is Howard. It's by far the best HBCU law school, but even then its only redeeming quality is that BigLaw firms will hire diversity quotas from them, so if you're too dumb to get to a good school and succeed on merits, Howard is an excellent backup choice for the melanin-rich.
As a Spelman alumβ¦. I love my hbcus I reallllllly do, and i put up w a lot of shit in undergrad, but I was also young and naive at the time. As a fully grown adult in my mid 20s.. i do not have the same patience for those things..I just came here to say that Howard is really displaying that same level of mediocrity although it holds a high name and standard.. i honestly atp dont even know how..
I applied literally one week after the application opened.. it is currently JULY 9β¦ I have not received an acdeptace, WL, Hold or denialβ¦
Obviously i have made my decision to go elsewhere at this point.. but it scares me if this is how the admissions process is handled.. what the heck goes on once school starts??
I hope that a change comes soon for that.. but in the meantime lol frick howard respectfully.
For the record, applications were supposed to be opened last August, but Howard delayed that for a month just because they didn't have their shit together. Even so, that's 9 months of radio silence. Good schools are in constant communication and provide monthly updates to your application status.
Howard offered you a conditional scholarship? That is absolutely shameful. There's no reason for that Howard. 𦬠Alumn
They only do conditional scholarships
Conditional scholarships are a practice reserved for for-profit and the most predatory of law schools. Entice students in with the promise of a hefty tuition discount, and then manipulate the curve so as many as possible fall under a GPA threshold and lose the scholarship. Sunk-cost fallacy means that far too many are going to stick around paying tuition that at sticker price rivals Harvard or Yale. Good and mediocre law schools don't do this, but I guess Howard's on that hustle mindset.
As a rising 2L at Howard, I can truly say it's worth it if you can show a little grit and be willing to put up with the BS. That's not for everyone and that's really ok. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get annoyed π.
I'll put up with bad admin as long as I can enjoy the experience and have a good time while I'm there.
I submitted my deposit to Howard and went to admitted students day despite the lack of professionalism from the admissions team and staff, but at the end I couldn't do it.
Bison in the house⦠although I'm a graduate and the degree helped me immensely, the price that all Howard graduates pay is significant in terms of frustration, poor, administrative processes, just look at the graduation for Howard this year. And trust me, Howard is not broke. they are the best funded HBCU.
As someone who went to a pwi for undergrad and is most likely going to Howard law ima say⦠they need to get they shit together. An absolutely embarrassing and unprofessional lack of organization from admin already.
Don't get me wrong, I suffered at my pwi, but at least I got the degree with no major hiccups.
Just some more choice quotes. Especially funny because they all act like they're going to be victimized by attending PWI law schools. You know, one of the most liberal branches of academia, currently bending head over heels backwards to show they're not racist, willing to drop fat stacks of scholarship money just to get enough minorities in the door. Yep, that's absolutely where you're going to be oppressed. Meanwhile they freely admit that Howard is incompetent and will make your time miserable.
Anyway, it's quite clear what's going on. When your law school's administration is entirely made of up that you would at the DMV, when your school subscribes to the Smithsonian's belief that things like responsibility, future planning, hard work, and time management are traits of White supremacy, when you don't have to improve because you're the best HBCU by default, the school becomes terrible. And yet, despite acknowledging all of this, these applicants simply can't make the next step and say that it's a systemic issue with the culture.
If you take the effort to search HBCUs by name in this subreddit, you'll find tons of people bitching with similar stories. It's the Black stylist drama all over again. Can't blame whitey anymore, but simply unwilling to admit that their own culture doesn't prioritize professionalism and punctuality.
The moral is simple. If you surround yourself with coloured people, you shouldn't be surprised when everything runs on Colored People Time.

Online right-wingers canβt take it. Most people are going through their lives generally ok, laughing and joking with those around them. In the last 610 days, Ukraine has captured virtually nothing. Their biggest capture was Urozhaine, a village of 1000 pre-war population. It was fully recaptured by Russia today. pic.twitter.com/Ise6Ws0msP

At least local pro Ukrainian will say Ukraine is winning since its Ukrainian goal to reach 1991 borders and Russian goal is to grind down all Ukrainian that can hold a gun. And we can see how Ukraine is closer and closer to its goal
Also don't worry it was never about helping Ukraine win, it was never about isolating Russia, it was never about forcing world order on Russia and punishing it for breaking it, it was never about punishing Russia for taking other country land and setting a precedent that countries can do war of conquest after ww2, it was never about showing western might with sanctions, it was never about destroying Russian economy, it was never about punishing Russia so China would fear west, it was just a straight lie. It was about killing Russian and reducing their military capability what Russia has now more people and better military capabilities than in 2022 ? Yeah that was also a lie
@Szia_uram catch phrases: Ukraine can't win fast enough
And things will get just better for Ukraine since NATO straight called China its N1 enemy

and I was out so I couldn't do anything about it. Then I got home and had a poke around and pulled an inch long thick hair that had coiled in my right nostril. No idea how it grew in there without me noticing. I feel much better now.
