Grooming with Adults

it's come to my attention that this place is nothing but an echo chamber for some negative opinions. i've seen fellow members defend blatant child abuse and predatory behavior. the most recent example of this type of thing is on a post of a 24 year old asking if she was being groomed. people kept insulting her and anyone who said that it's possible. they made the claims that “adults can't be groomed” and “once you turn 20, it becomes a personal decision.”

so let me explain what grooming is…

grooming can happen when there is a power differential within a relationship, which the abuser exploits for their own gratification. this is most commonly recognised as a tactic used by perpetrators of child sexual abuse, both on children and parents. however, adults can also be groomed.

if you believe that just because someone is an adult, that they are “allowing themselves” to be put through this, maybe it's time to look inward and find out what's causing you to be so ignorant. grooming doesn't magically stop when you turn 18, 25, or even 50.

i already know what the comments are going to look like and i'm prepared to handle all of it like an adult. if you're going to create a strawman argument, at least be original or unique about it.

ad hominem all you like, but insulting someone for speaking the truth just makes you look like an butt.

The claims⁠, which were mainly shared on X (formerly Twitter) but also popped up across Reddit and Facebook, range from Vanguard preventing startup programs from firing correctly to other programs crashing when the anti-cheat software loads, and some have even suggested Riot's kernel program has been “tampering with unrelated files.” Others simply dubbed it “malware” and declared they would be quitting League until the program stopped breaking PCs.

One high-profile example came from famed League creator LS, who reported both his computers breaking after Vanguard was installed on May 1. He said he fixed one by taking out the CMOS battery and forcing BIOS access, but suggested his other computer is “still bricked.”

Several user posts on the purported Vanguard issues have also been shared to the main League subreddit but they have since been deleted.

While Riot has yet to address any of the early backlash directly, tech staff have been active in the “Patch 14.9 Bug Megathread” on /r/LeagueOfLegends. One Riot reply suggested some of today's alleged issues “wouldn't be related to Vanguard” and offered up a simpler solution⁠—restart impacted devices and run PC troubleshooting.

The same Riot staffer also suggested any aggrieved players could upload Riot Vanguard logs to the League support page to help “isolate what the issue is.” All the Reddit comments from that Rioter have since been removed.

Asking the right questions doesn't always work…

Hello all- I was excited when I landed j3 because I was at my goal total salary.

I asked all the right questions in my interview, an doing this has worked so for every single job I have gotten so far. Until this one.

This job though, has lied about everything. I asked the policy around meetings and they said most meetings are optional or can be moved. “We are super flexible” lie.

We don't required you to be on video (lie).

We don't have a lot of meetings per day (lie, see photo)

It's a salary job and you are treated as such (hours are flexible and not tracked-lie)

I'm riding it out/doing bare minimum until I secure another J3 (this one is meaningless to me) but wanted to share why it is so horrible.

9:30 “huddle” every morning where the manager adds meetings for the day.

So I can't plan ahead with anything because every morning she changes our schedule up for meetings. I've mentioned that this is not conducive to how I work and she said something like “well this is what's expected, and the meetings are a priority”.

Most of the time in these meetings, we are just sitting there and she's asking the same fricking questions and talking about the same topics. We just talked about in the bullshit huddle we had at 9:30 in the morning.

To make matters worse, I have to be online precisely at 8 and until 5pm or else she sends me a TEXT on my PERSONAL PHONE asking me where I am.

I can't wait to drop this j.

The devastated family of a woman eaten alive by a safari park tiger are suing zoo bosses for £250,000.

The tragic incident began when a young woman got out of a car inside the Siberian tiger enclosure to berate her partner in the driver's seat.

One of the powerful creatures quickly pounced at Badaling Wildlife Park in Beijing, China.

Her mother and a man then also got out and went to her rescue.

The woman is speaking into the car when the tiger approaches from behind

The older woman, known only by her surname Zhao, was then attacked by a second tiger who dragged her to her death as park rangers frantically tried to intervene.

Her daughter survived the attack and launched a bid for compensation.

Yanqing district government said the tourists should be held accountable as they ignored warnings from the park authorities.

But now the family are seeking damages of £250,000 (HK$2.3 million), which the park rejected.

The horrendous incident was partly captured on shocking CCTV footage.

A silver car is driving along a paved pathway through the park when it comes to a stop.

A young woman gets out of the front passenger seat, slams her door and stomps round to the driver's side.

The driver also opens his door as the woman appears to remonstrate with him.

But within seconds, a tiger appears from nowhere and pounces on the woman's back from behind.

She appears to hear it coming only at the last second and is unable to escape.

The animal pulls her to the ground and away from the vehicle with lightning speed.

The man gets out of the car and for a moment appears unsure whether to get back in or go after the woman.

He then disappears off camera.

A few seconds later, the older woman also gets out the car as park rangers appear in a jeep.

The man appears to motion her back into the vehicle, but she runs with him off camera as well.

The second tiger attack is not captured on camera.

The park has been closed while an investigation is underway, according to local media.

Sources told ChinaNews said the accident involved a family of four including three adults and a child.

As the vehicle travelled through the Siberian tiger garden area, there was an "altercation" between the young woman and man who was driving.

She suddenly got out of the car and went to try and open his door.

Which means it's important not to associate with the racists by being offended on behalf of the people who claim to represent you.This is the man/bear question all over again.
