People are genetically programmed to both develop + enforce social norms and adapt to the social norms in their culture. Social norms in cultures that have adopted abrahamic are heavily influenced by Christianity, but if you swapped it for anything or nothing then people would follow whatever rules are in place.

This is straight-up historical revisionism. 20th-century totalitarian states quashed religion because they didn't want to compete with another seat of power. Most civilizations in human history have been both authoritarian and religious, and religious mandates have caused the death and enslavement of millions.
