These men want purity in a woman. They subconsciously (or consciously) want a woman who's never had s*x with a man before.
It's why they don't have any nuance in their criticisms. Like, what if a woman is a single mother because her husband died and the children are all his?
What if a man lies about who he is to a woman and doesn't become abusive until several years and several children into their relationship?

I just don't think already existent children with established personalities and their own unique conception of what a father is would, in a vacuum at least, be well-served by having that role filled to some extent by a guy who finds moderating a gossip forum for years to be an acceptable use of time.

There's a different word for that, "widow." They aren't what people are thinking when they think of "single moms" and are the vast minority anyhow. They're also the only ones that aren't a giant red flag, as long they had nothing to do with the father's death
The worst thing about a single mom isn't even the kid, it's the fact that a moid found her
so intolerable that he abandoned his own children just to get away from her. Either that, or she left him afterwards which is just as awful of a sign. Your only hope is that she's faithful but a horribly bad judge of character.
