1. Good lord man you are obsessed. Checks ops post history, all he posts about is how star citizen is terrible lmao. What kind of smear campaign are you running here? Go on drop the figure, how much money did you donate in the first place to be THIS obsessed about bad mouthing it?
2. Say it with me: You aren’t forced to spend hundreds of dollars for the best ship. The cheapest to play the game is $35-45. You can earn the most expensive $$$ currently flyable ship in game. There are multiple game loops, cargo hauling, bounty hunting, mining, and being a criminal. Plus other side missions. The devs are the most transparent about their progress than any other game studio with 3 videos a week highlighting their progress. Players are physically FORCED to check a box before buying a ship stating “you are backing an unfinished alpha game” just because a $2000 ship exists doesn’t mean you are forced at gun point to buy it. There is no trickery, support the game or not, in the end it’s the players fault if they feel scammed. Especially with the copious amount of gameplay / let’s play videos out there, judge it for yourself.
3. Star Citizen is a scam. Plain and simple.
4. I told people YEARS ago that this "game" was a scam and would never see a proper release. People got big mad at me. Apparently I was the idiot and didn't know what I was talking about. lmao.
5. You can play it now... If you like it you can spend more... "Game launch" doesn't matter to the people playing it nightly. Also totally normal post history there OP
6. So is this your only hobby? Pooping on Star Citizen? It’s literally your entire post and comment history. I feel for you. Try to enjoy something, let others enjoy something.
7. Biggest scam in gaming history and dumb asses still pay them. Lol a joke of a game and player base
8. How does one even spend this much money and not have a game to show for it? This is mismanagement in its purest form.
9. The sheer Copium posts of star citizen supporters never bores.
10. Who cares. EA makes 7 billion a year and look at how many of those games flop, look how many are unfinished and being left behind. They cant even put their NhL game on PC.
11. Biggest scam in gaming history

Valve tried to have an anarchist company structure (even hiring that commie Greek finance minister to advise it).
They produced some good side projects but major projects like Half life 3 never went anywhere.
Sometimes you need a benevolent dictator to get shit in shape. It sounds like the developers just work on whatever they fancy.

Because it's true, their roadmaps constantly had stuff delayed or pushed back until it happened so often people got fed up so they stopped making them.
The cultists eat it up every time though.

There's no way to fix their netcode because the guy in charge is a complete r-slur.
They might still be using CryEngine, idk. Either way Croberts wanted r-slur shit like independent motion tracking for every aspect of a ship, and all that data shared online. He wanted you to be a able to see a player character move their controls if you did a close enough flyby.
They almost immediately gave up on an open world design and instance their battles too

Robberts has always had a fetish for "cinematic" stuff even back to his original gamedev days. Shit dev, shittier writer. He spent the entirety of the 2000s in Hollywood after all. I still can't believe he was a producer for Lord of War.

this is the same problem the yandere simulator dev had lol
which reminds me of that garbage fire. i remember he tried to buy a subreddit for $3000

Second biggest problem. His first was not knowing how to use unity and using infinite if/else statements in main() instead of a state machine.
Read his leaked code and some of his error logs. It's beyond belief. Everyhing is a public variable too I think. 1000s of lines of interdependent booleans with no error logging
Jump in the discussion.

oh yeah I completely forgot about that
his C# was sooooo bad. i remember too he wanted to hire a programmer to tidy up the code but also didn't want any of it changed because it was "too hard" to read the better code so the dev he hired to help basically just quit lol

That second dev is apparently the only reason the save feature works
There's not a single function in yandev's code, just if/elses passing booleans and shit like
Var1 = Var2
Because he doesn't understand the idea of just passing a variable along

This is what code written by actual neurodivergent people would look like, not just people who joke about being neurodivergent.
Most neurodivergents are terrible programmers because they're also r-slurred.

despite being greedy and lazy r-slurs, valve actually does do a lot of work with networking and anticheat and other infra shit behind the scenes, they just don't make a big deal about it:

Valve's basically the opposite of star citizen's development process despite having the same ethos. the core difference is that valve's devs are more neurodivergent and like working on backend shit instead of frontend shit, which is the important distinction.

I imagine maintaining Steam is also a big factor, they know firsthand how important backend stuff is when that's like 90% of what steam is.

Valve hired a trendy economist named Yanis who advised them on their company structure and philosophical e-commerce stuff. He later became finance minister in a left wing Greek gov that famously refused to pay bankers back.

Difference is Volvo still hire competent people and can cherry pick applicants because of their:
A) Almost mythic level they are as a company
B) Steam prints money so flops aren’t the end of the world
Even with the Volvo structure they have managed to put out the Valve Index which is the best VR headset on the market alongside Half Life Alyx. As well as just having launched the steam deck which is also fantastic, i should know I own both.

I think star citizen makes an excellent counterexample, though. 500 mil and Chris Roberts running the ship and you're still 500 mil deep into the biggest scam known to g*merkind. What you really need is someone who's actually working towards the right goals, and can keep everyone else in line.

Going beyond the obvious scam part and looking at the actual product they now have, did anyone here play it? The bloated budget inherently results in a bloated game with a scope so big it can't even be entertaining.
I was watching a video like year and a half ago and even then it looked so painfully unenjoyable, it was like a 30 minute video all of which was spent mining resources. Everything needed to have a detailed mechanic, I mean that's what you do with a budget that big, which just turned it into a chore instead of a game.

My BILs got me to try it with them on a free weekend. My experience(running a 2700x /RX580 with 16gb of RAM) was that it took over half an hour to get into the game, which promptly crashed, then i spent fifteen minutes reconnecting. Then I had sub ten FPS on Low settings at 720p, which took twenty minutes to become playable enough to stop stuttering.
At which point I find out I spawned on a different world from them, so after spending seven minutes getting from my spawn to the spaceport, I had to wait an additional fifteen for them to arrive. At this point Im over an hour and a half into my experience and have yet to encounter anything constituting gameplay; but I have wandered into many invisible walls and encountered no NPCs whatsoever.
Whatever, I get in their ship when they arrive, get back out into space, which takes forever because apparently the atmosphere of the planet I spawned on is especially thick, finally head into FTL travel to my first mission killing some pirates.
Over two hours in by this point, I get my first bit of gameplay, where I have to maneuver onto the ship being raided. Of course, having loaded into a new zone, my fps tanks once more, and I'm struggling to accomplish anything. Then the shooting starts and its some awfully generic high lethality garbage. Whatever, we clear the first floor and I get in an elevator to go down and somehow clip into the floor and am crushed to death.
Then the game glitches out and my spawn point goes back to the starting planet instead of my brother's ship, and I ask them both if they find this enjoyable. For some inexplicable reason, they are having fun. Hats off to them I guess but holy shit that game is fricking awful.
I uninstalled immediately after.

You will never be a real neighbor. You have no melanin, you have no opps, you have no drip. You are a headass cracka twisted by drugs and gang shit into a crude mockery of nature's perfection.
All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Your parents are disgusted and ashamed of you, your “homies” laugh at your ghoulish skin behind closed doors.
Hood neighbors are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed neighbors to sniff out frauds with incredible efficiency. Even tronkies who “pass” look uncanny and unnatural to a neighbor. Your bone structure is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk guy to hang with you, he'll turn tail and bolt the second he hears your chipmunk butt crakoid vocal signature.
You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it's going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.
Eventually it'll be too much to bear - you'll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your parents will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They'll bury you with a headstone marked with your birth name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a honky is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably white.
This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

Isn't Star Citizen being developed by the same guy who did Freelancer? I remember he had massive plans for that game, but the studio at the time Digital Anvil told him to get the project out or BTFO. From my own research it seems the guy tends to get really caught up on making the "Perfect" Space game only to get sidetracked on minute details. Seems like this is what's been going on with Star Citizen for years now.
