You can't even buy 4tb ssd for Xbox.
PS5 ain't in better situation since the console on its own has like 500gb and you can have max 4tb. you can have more memory on ps4. Its all because this gen sold us this beautiful story of magical ssd when you can play fine ps5 games on jailbroken ps5 from external drives

You can buy on Ali express an adapter for 5 buxx and put any 2tb ssd (you can put more but MS got angry at it and never released 4tb ssd and you need to put og ms ssd bios on the ssd so because there ain't 4tb official ssd the limit is 2)
But it's kinda stupid that MS decided for their console to use an photo camera SSD slot

Seems I was wrong about 4tb but that update to support came in 2023 so I missed it but
You can't play ps5 games from HDD so it's kinda useless also I can download games faster than transfer a game from hdd to ssd.

Nobody consider a regular hdd as storage for ps5 games.
But as I mentioned earlier you can on jailbroken ps5 play games from even USB stick
