Almost 66 GB in size

:#marseysquint:

Edit: I bumped it up to 66 because it's an order 66 joke

Can any resident code monkey explain to the s*x havers here what they could possibly have put in there to make it 66 GB? I don't think it's crypto miners, but clearly it's not just the game either, so what's going on?

Impassionata can't be an /r/politics poster, there are not enough veiled calls for terrorism and/or dictatorship

Probably shitty resizing of audio files , way back devs had discipline and went to great lengths to save space and compress files strategically,

But new cheap massive drives made westoid Devs as lazy as possible when it comes to compression

zelda :marseyitsdangerous2: tears :marseyvapecrying: of the kingdom, which has a massive game world, is 16GB.

That game has like 3 lines of spoken dialogue lol. But yeah these porting devs suck fignuts

there's a lot of talking in it tho. all the major :marseygaygeneral: named characters have voices. and i think :marseyoscargamble: the random :marseycitrusshrug: characters like grunt or something? WHICH COUNTS!

3 hours of spoken cutscenes is less than other games :marseygamer: but still.

Uncompressed audio and textures. Minimal performance gain, even for oldstrag PCs.

Uncompressed audio/texture files. But honestly that seems still way too much overhead.

So I'm going with: duplicate files. There are some ways to store/compress data, but if you change a file then you would have to recompress everything else in the container as well. So you just append the new file at the end, basically you have one old and one new copy. This type of stuff can make sense in the right circumstances, obviously not gaming.

Or instead of going "We use texture A in map X and Y, we just put the texture once in map X and once in map Y".

That would be my speculation.
