So I picked up Outer Wilds and it's pretty good. The fanbase is a little annoying what with the I CAN'T TELL YOU ANYTHING BUT IT'S THE BEST GAME EVER but it's still a solid puzzle game. I personally thought of it as Myst with space physics I'm a fan of Fire Emblem and Undertale so I'm used to ignoring terrible fandoms
Another game I liked is Subnautica but what I specifically liked was the exploration and figuring out the story. I only tolerated the survival crafting.
!g*mers Any other game experiences you guys would recommend? @PeepeeButtKiss I think you shilled Outer Wilds so any others?

Like Myst: Riven, Obduction, The Witness, Superliminal, The Talos Principle 1/2
All mysterious, surreal, 1st person puzzle games. I think all six of the Myst series work on modern Windows, some of them remastered.

That's the only one I haven't played on my list, but it seems a lot of people like it so I included it. What's wrong with it?

All the puzzles have basically the same solution in a different setting, the singular mechanic is pretty cool but doesn't really lend itself to creative solutions

I got if for free on gamepass. Good game, but I am not paying more than $5 for it.

Subnautica is a nice one. I wasn't a fan of the crafting either though the bases felt quite cosy sometimes

Unfortunately I'm cursed with not having base building autism. Whenever I play a game like that my base will be as utilitarian as they come and I only build what I need to progress. I like solving the puzzle and I just don't like crafting.

Subnautica isn't a "long term survival" game where building a base is the point - it has a story and a conclusion. You can just do the bare minimum to install all the fancy gadgets and that's good enough. You really only need to make a single pack rat base in the starter area, then a second refueling point halfway to the end of the story. You can also play with the hunger/thirst survival stuff disabled.

I like playing Satisfactory until I get so annoyed by my layout that I just stop playing and then start a new game 3 months later.

I don't want any simulation though. What I like about Outer Wilds and Myst is that there's no managing resources or building anything. You only have to figure out what to do next.
I liked Palworld for a time but I stopped because I had almost all the Pals and the game keeps asking for increasingly grindy resources. I didn't want to slug through anything else just to beat the towers.

As someone who played Tunic searching for an OW-like experience, I wouldn't recommend it. There's like two instances where you learn knowledge that allows you to progress but other than that it's fairly standard zelda/metroidvania pick-up-item-to-unlock-new-areas progression. And no, I didn't do the autism quest to get the extra super secret bonus ending

I love the games you mentioned. I'll recommend a few since we seem to have similar tastes.
Have you tried Hollow Knight? It's got exploration and narrative unraveling in spades, and is also the best Metroidvania I've ever played (tied with Super Metroid)
La Mulana could also be up your alley, it's another one of my favorite games. Anyone who plays it seems to either absolutely adore it or utterly despise it, there isn't much in-between.
Some of the puzzles are ridiculous though; very few people seem to be able to beat La Mulana without looking at a guide.

Chants of Sennaar - it's basically Myst where the puzzles revolve around understanding a language, which you gradually learn by exploring the world and finding clues

try manifold garden
its like a puzzle game in the spirit of portal
the levels you navigate are like m.c. escher pieces
idk if that's exactly what you're looking for, but its kind of obscure so worth mentioning
wishlisht it though I bet you could get it on sale for like 10$, it's pretty old
Also I think superliminal is in this category, I haven't played it yet though. But it has very good reviews.

Oh I shilled the frick outta that game. Never really found anything that lived up to it tho, Myst is good and similar but l didn't like it as much, half the fun of Outer Wilds was frickin around w the physics. Especially on low-grav worlds.
That said Superliminal was good, and Ive heard what remains of Edith Finch, return of Obra Dinn, and Firewatch are all similar, tho I have not played

I'll keep those in mind.
Outer Wilds was great and I'm working on the dlc now I agree that the space physics and open ended exploration of the solar system really makes the game

idk what it was but that game hit all the right notes for me I consider it one of the best games I've ever played. Also the fact that it's kind of a one-off (besides fricking around you can't really replay it) AND I went into it totally blind it just clicked perfectly. the DLC was unique but also similar, in that it's the same style of game but plays out in that one location, and it also adds to the lore and story. They frickin killed it tho.
Also the producers or whatever of the game called "Annapurna" also have a movie making division, that movie where Christian Bale plays Cheney was developed by the same company Annapurna.

Honestly I dont even remember that movie, I watched it with some ppl but I think I fell asleep. I just remember the opening credits with Annapurna and being like wtf isn't that the thing that pops up on the intro screen for Outer Wilds? Probably some shitty conglomerate or something
