I learnt this lesson from a pretty young age, as it's pretty obvious in America.

Does anyone really have stuff they can't live without? Aside from rent/mortgage and insulin injections, 90% of the shit people buy is junk they think they need to impress others. Our clothes are overpriced plastic, and we buy fast food because we're lazy. We lease new cars two at a time, and put most of our self-worth into our possessions. I think America's homeless also consume at the rate of like 50 average Africans per capita.

Maybe I got an early education because my dad is basically just a douchebag 10-year-old who spends all his time with his friends talking about the dumb shit he's bought or going to buy. But go to the Midwest and eavesdrop on some fat white women talking to one another (): pretty good chance they talk about their purses or SUVs or televisions, in between MAYBE talking about their kids' soccer games.
