You're right but we're also acting like no other president has tried to push the limits of their capabilities. As much as I love FDR, he did tons of shit he wasn't supposed to, to try and correct the great depression. Or Obama's love of killing citizens with drone strikes. All Presidents try to extend the power of the executive branch, that's why we have a system of checks and balances in place.
