according to his current girlfriend, here's what happened. a couple guys he didn't know were visiting from out of town, and they hit it off at his restaurant that he owned, so they were all drinking together after hours. when he left out the back at about 3am, a third guy was waiting in the alley, and tried to rob him because this 3rd guy thought he had the drop with him (it was in his safe in the restaurant). my ex started fighting with this guy, and the 2 strangers came running down the alley to try to break it up (according to the prosecutor- no one really knows because the 3rd isn't talking). my ex thought they were all in cahoots and trying to jump him, so he shot them both.

first of all, i'm surprised to learn my ex even owned a gun, but i guess being a business owner he felt like he had to due to this exact scenario? on the other hand, i'm not surprised to learn that if he did own a gun, he was stupid enough to be drinking while armed. it's just such a tragic waste of life for everyone involved, over absolutely fricking nothing. i'm still reeling to learn that he did this, people lost their lives, now he lost his too, and knowing him i believe it couldn't possibly have been malicious. but i guess the courts believed differently. it's so horribly strange to imagine him living the rest of his life in a cell, away from his family, his partner, his dogs. not that i don't feel empathy and pity for the victims and their families, but i don't know them. i knew him.

i don't really have anything else to say about it so here's some of my favorite memories of our time together.

one time, we hitchhiked back to our home state to see his little sister's graduation. we were in a hurry, and thought two women would be more likely to be picked up, so he wore one of my skirts and kept his back turned to the road while i stood with my thumb out.

he thought the "Dallas - Salad" King of the Hill youtube poop was the funniest thing he ever saw in his life. all you had to do was say "Dallas?" and it would bring him almost to tears.

when we broke up, he gave me my dog, so i would always be safe and never be alone. i haven't always been safe since then, but i have never been alone.

we hitchhiked and then hiked up to the San Antonio hot spring in New Mexico, but no one checked the weather beforehand, so we got kinda stuck in a surprise blizzard. we found an abandoned cabin close by, and had plenty of food, so we stayed for 3 days until the weather cleared up, undisturbed by other hikers, sitting in the deep hot spring pool on the side of a mountain, while the snow fell around us.

in the summer, we lived in a 3rd floor apartment, with no a/c. the head of our bed was pushed up against the window, and at night we would lay together, cool breeze rolling in, and he would match his breathing to mine.

Deferred Account Deletion to rDrama Users

During the first week of his administration, Pharaoh Aevann issued a number of directives concerning the rDrama users. Among those directives, the Pharaoh required that users return to reporting drama from across the entire internet, restored accountability for users to create drama where none was present, restored accountability for brigading in bad faith, and reformed the policy to lower the standards of conduct. As a result of the above orders, the reform of the userbase will be significant.

The reformed userbase will be built around four pillars:

1. Report Drama: The substantial majority of users who have been lurking remotely will be required to register accounts. Going forward, we also expect our site to undergo meaningful consolidation and divestitures, potentially resulting in increased activity.

2. Create Drama: The userbase should be comprised of the worst the internet has to offer. We will insist on expertise at every level — our performance standards will be updated to award and pin those that exceed expectations and punish in a public and humiliating way those who do not meet the high standards which the paypigs of this site have a right to demand.

3. Brigade in Bad Faith: While a few sites and subreddits are merely observed and laughed at by the userbase, the majority of them are likely to be brigaded through trolling, whataboutism, and sockpuppetry. These actions are likely to include the use of ad hominem attacks and just asking questions.

4. Lowered standards of conduct: The userbase should be comprised of employees who are unreliable, self-serving, duplicitous, and who strive for effortmaxxing in their daily work. Users will be subject to lowered standards of suitability and conduct as we move forward. Users who engage in fedposting or other shenanigans will be pinned.

Each of the pillars outlined above will be pursued in accordance with applicable site rules, consistent with your hole's policies, and to the extent permitted under relevant ping spamming.
