SEC Confirms Game Service Roblox Part of 'Active Investigation

• Agency withholds details, saying release may harm efforts

• Company has faced questions about its reported player data

Responding to a Freedom of Information Act request, the commission said in a letter Friday that it couldn't share correspondence between staffers referencing Roblox, saying it could cause "harm to the ongoing enforcement proceeding."

"We have confirmed with Division of Enforcement staff that there are responsive emails between Enforcement staff referencing Roblox and that these emails are a part of an active and ongoing investigation," the commission said.

Bloomberg News couldn't confirm the subject of the investigation. Roblox didn't respond to requests for comment, and the SEC declined to make any additional comment.

Hunterbrook Media reported in November that Roblox was under investigation by the SEC, citing Freedom of Information Act requests. Hunterbrook cited an October letter from the commission saying it was withholding documents "which could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement activities." Its affiliate, Hunterbrook Capital, had a short position in the shares.

In October, the now-defunct short-seller Hindenburg Research published a report on child-safety concerns at Roblox and also alleged that the company had inflated its metrics, including the number of users who regularly play Roblox games and the amount of time they spend on average on the platform....

The video-game company has faced scrutiny over children's safety on the platform. Since 2018, At least two dozen people have been arrested by police in the US, accused of abusing or abducting victims they'd met or groomed using Roblox, Bloomberg News reported in July.

Shares of Roblox fell 11% on Thursday after the company reported slower-than-expected growth in daily users of its service. It reported 85.3 million active users as of year end.

mass culture has been trapped in endless nostalgia loops for years, but even the internet - which used to be a wild, chaotic place - has finally been reduced to either hyper-policed, corporate-moderated mush (reddit dot com) or irony-poisoned wastelands where every conversation either degenerates into the same three wojak memes (ding ding ding, this is where we are right now) or is suffocated by asking of the reader to withhold their habituated responses.

this isn't just stagnation, it's full on social decay. if it took on physical form we could observe the brain worms slowly digesting our frontal lobes. I remember when I first joined it was kind of cheeky and irreverent, and it still seemed plausible that women posted here. But it's become progressively more shallow and heartless. I mean I can't be the only one picking up on this, right? "The worst thing about DOGE is how soy it all is"? We can't just express outrage at immorality anymore, every criticism must be given through the lens of haughty indifference and framed around coolness or lack thereof. Gooooood, for the 100,000th time - this is a unique sub and one of the only decent culture/current events subs on reddit, the podcast sucks shit so most people here either never listened or stopped listening in 2019 (me). I used to like A&D but in the last five years one became a Fox News dork and the other is hawking a shit coin, they've changed. That being said, what drew me to them and this sub in the first place was their critique/thoughts on the overly woke/grifter left and establishment liberals. What I and many didn't know back in 2018 was A&D are insecure dorks who just adopt whatever ideology they currently find chic/edgy, and as soon as Bernie/progressive politics became boring they moved onto the next thing. But a lot of us here have beliefs based on morality/ethics/what we find to be true, so here we are

You know how back in High School you could send candygrams/roses to your friends and crushes on Valentine's Day? I think it would be cool if you could do that on rDrama. You could buy the person you like flowers or something, and then get a cute Valentine's Day badge Maybe you could even give the option of making these gifts anonymous for the stalkers/secret crushes

Another idea is you could have a scoreboard to see who gets the most roses.

I know it's probably too late to do it this year since Valentine's day is in a couple of days, but maybe next year? Just an idea.

I wouldn't call it great by any means but I was pleasantly surprised by it. For a children's movie it was funny/amusing, and most noticeable of all, it was not woke. I feel like 2 or 3 years ago, this movie would either not have been made since the main character is a cop, or it would've been jammed with woke messaging.

It was very innocuous with no social messaging aside from basic stuff. The villain learns to be good because his cloned baby cat encourages him to be nice to people.

The animation style was alright. I thought it would drive me crazy at first but it was ok.

If anything I am amazed at the fact that we've come so far from COVID/George Floydian style messaging within kids entertainment.
