Why did Elon Musk just say Trump wants to bring two stranded astronauts home?
For reasons that were not immediately clear, SpaceX founder Elon Musk took to his social media site X on Tuesday evening to make a perplexing space-based pronouncement.
"The POTUS has asked SpaceX to bring home the 2 astronauts stranded on the Space_Station as soon as possible. We will do so," Musk wrote. "Terrible that the Biden administration left them there so long."
Now generally, at Ars Technica, it is not our policy to write stories strictly based on things Elon Musk says on X. However, this statement was so declarative, and so consternation-inducing for NASA, it bears a bit of explication.
lmao bullshit, Ars loves to sneed about everything Elon does; it's basically TMZ but only covering Elon.
Foremost, NASA has gone to great lengths to stress that the two astronauts referenced here—Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams—are not stranded on the International Space Station.
The astronauts are clearly stranded as has been covered extensively over the last year by even leftie organisations:
NPR also released an article insisting that the astronauts aren't stranded - https://www.npr.org/2025/01/28/nx-s1-5278636/iss-astronaut-rescue-spacex-trump:
Ars comments are of course mad:
Why wouldn't the US government want to bring two stranded astronauts home? Why is this the top comment? What are you mad about?
They were meant to be there for eight days. The eighteen month stay was planned.
And yet they're still stranded there, curious. Why don't they just fly back home? They must want to be there.
The bottom two comments - note the guy who's had an account for 17 years.

This is actually pretty strange. Maybe he's just some turbo neet addicted to the janny life. I'm not sure how he'd be making money from this. But it's creepy how these jannies weasel their way into more and more control.
I saw him on the front page earlier here
Just a discussion thread, nbd. But I found a bunch of posts about him.
Sardines discussed him 2 weeks ago (removed of course)
That's a flagrant repost
But he mops hard on any post that calls him out.
Not sure the rDrama rules here , but there is a private social media account with the same reddit username

OR they have some sort of mental illness that drives them to see their fake internet points go up.
I'm leaning toward that, but I'll make a poll at the bottom.

As we see here, even a brand new thread posted a paltry three minutes ago and about the most /r/AskReddit topic imaginable already had HOLY COW seven hundred and ten upchuds.
Don't believe me? See for yourself!
https://poal.co/s/AskPoal/747854
I refreshed and it's dropped down to a still respectable 291 uphitlers. I guess there's a lot of diversity of opinion on this site even for relatively banal subjects like giant robots. How cool is that?
The next thread is another very hot topic, very relevant and powerful Alaskan congressperson Lisa Murkowski:
1200 upTNDs on that bad boy in just 14 minutes. This one even has a comment. Let's check it out and see what Motte-level intellectual discourse goes on here:

Poal.co user ERROR; RNG_USERNAME_VAR_NOT_FOUND
offers some powerful insight into this with a not at all procedurally generated comment with very reasonable, intentional, deliberate and NOT random formatting to boot. No votes at all on that one yet, for some reason. Maybe the enormous userbase is all busy crafting lengthy polemics against or for his stance there.
The next newest thread is about Pompeo. Remember Pompeo? I don't besides the name, but several hundred Poal.co users remember him. Check these votes out.
Fluctuates like crazy every time I refresh. There seems to be an enormous but enormously healthy variety of pro- and anti-Pompeo sentiments there, going by how quickly the votes shift by several hundred. This thread even has TWO comments:
https://poal.co/s/Trump/747852
I don't know what they mean and I can't ask the users because there must be some bug from all the traffic preventing real users' real usernames from displaying.
Scrolling further down the bustling digital metropolis of poal.co, we see similar levels of activity, no matter the topic:
Pretty much all of their threads have many times our most upvoted posts' total votes. Even ones with no comments. It's inspiring and demoralizing in equal measure.
In closing I'd just like to remind everyone that you need to say nigger as much as possible to defeat the Jewish hydra.

OP
Canadian here. Not sure if this is PreperIntel worthy but just reporting something I've honestly never seen in my life. Canadians woke up today feeling super patriotic. And super pissed. Not that we aren't usually patriotic but we aren't a bunch of flag wavers. It's more a quiet patriotism we keep to ourselves. And we are generally a polite and reserved bunch in general.
Not today. Holy... the mood in Canada is ... PISSED.
Most of the anger is aimed at your current head of state but also at your country as a whole. Not so much individual Americans. You will be perfectly safe traveling through Canada or visiting. But there is outright anger directed at any product with a "Made in the USA" flag. Every store in Canada is going around with maple leaf stickers marking the "Made in Canada" products. Consumer boycotts are springing up organically across the country. The talk is really sort of ... ugly.
I get the sense there has been significant damage done to the US Brand in Canada. And I don't think it's confined to Canada. I have friends in the UK who say the same. They are also just frankly pissed beyond all reason. I expect it's the same across Europe.
Hopefully it dies down. It's absolutely non-productive and unCanadian. America and Canada have been ride or die BFF's for a century or more. I live in Arizona 1/2 time and I love LOVE it here. I have yet to personally meet an American I didn't genuinely like. You are good people. You do not deserve any of this.
Unless of course you voted for this. In which case... hope you get everything you voted for and then some.
also RIP to /r/prepperintel, it has turned into just another 'Drumf le bad' subreddit

DISCLAIMER: I don't mean non-consensual or obligatory s*x at all. Men do not have a right to a woman's body just because you're in a relationship. I am a woman and I do think of myself as a feminist.
I was just wondering what people in general think about the idea of having s*x even if you don't necessarily 'feel like it' for the good of the relationship because you love your partner.
In my experience, my s*x drive isn't that high and I don't get an impulse to initiate s*x very often. It's not because im not attracted to my partner or don't enjoy s*x, I think im seriously just lazy and need to overcome that to keep my relationship strong. It's like, when I do have s*x with my partner I almost always enjoy it, the idea of it just doesn't sound good beforehand. Separately, I also notice that if my partner and I have not done it in a while, our relationship gets worse and we argue more, etc. So when I realize it's been awhile and I see an opportunity, I'll just initiate even if I don't really want to in the moment. Or if he initiates and my first instinct is no, I'll think about why im saying no before I respond. If there is a legit reason beyond me being lazy that I don't want to have s*x, I say no.
When I read dead bedrooms posts or talk to friends in bad relationships who tell me they haven't had s*x in 3 or 6 mos or whatever I've wanted to bring this up and ask if they've ever thought about it like this but I worry this is some weird internalized misogyny or patriarchy thing that im just trying to justify. What do the people of rsp think?

Hecko!
Yesterday night, I decided to try and get some sweet xitter likes by doing the classic move of pissing people off.
For those who do not know, Technoblade was am extremely popular Minecraft youtuber, who used to be part of the DreamSMP.
also most importantly, he's dead.
Died of bone cancer in mid 2022. And every year since then he's friends have gotten together to use his death for charity. The most recent example being yesterday from other large Minecraft youtuber, and drama QUEEN TommyInnit
In response I threw a tweet out into the ether, making fun of them doing this.
I know nothing about these people.

But didn't this dude die like 5 years ago?
How many times are you going to dance around a corpse for money? pic.twitter.com/ncSjemPdw1
And while I did not get many likes or views on X.
I did quite well on REDDIT
https://old.reddit.com/r/MinecraftMemes/comments/1i7syde/umm_what/
3.2k upmarseys and the thread got Ya'lled.
(check thread for funny upset children, a lot got deleted by internet jannies, and Im too lazy to select a few)
Then just do a charity drive, at some point it's ridiculous. You think they are gonna be "raising money for Technoblade" 20 years later too?
— gerg (@_gergYT) January 22, 2025
It's beating a quite literally dead horse
Surprisingly a lot of people seem to know where I'm coming from but I just "worded it badly" (Worded it DRAMATICALLY more like it)
And a lot of other people have said they are unsubscribing from me due to my horrible PR.
I'm sure this has done irreversible damage to my reputation and I will never recover....
